Yoko Ono takes part in disaster charity auction

TOKYO (majirox news) — Yoko Ono, Tadanori Yokoo, Yayoi Kusama and other renowned artists will take part in a charity auction to help the museums in Tohoku and North-Kanto that were damaged in the recent disaster.The Japanese Council of Art Museums and over 400 artists are providing artwork free of charge to be sold at the auction. Money raised from the auction will be used to repair the museums and restore their damaged art collections.Japan’s March 11 earthquake and tsunami caused extensive damage to the museums and galleries. Many collections were lost or submerged, and the number of damaged pieces amounted to more than ten thousand. Some of the museum workers were swept away by the tsunami and drowned.
