Moped Accident?

I read that the reason Paul grew a moustache was to cover the scar from him moped accident, but I don't get this: if he wrecked on December 26, 1965, why would we wait all the way to December 1966 to grow a moustache and "cover" the scar?  In the Paperback Writer/Rain promo film you see the chipped tooth but I don't really see any scar. Why would he not have his tooth capped five months later?  That's quite a long time to have a chipped tooth my anyone's standards.  Maybe I just need some clarity on all of this.

I've always wondered about that myself. In the videos, his face looks swollen yet he's all healed up. Except for the tooth. How's that possible? But you can see the scar if you look closely. It's nothing worrying about though. I really don't think he grew the mustache because of it. I think that was just the style. Has he ever said that that's why he grew it?

Yeah, he did in fact grow the moustache because of it as explained by him in this quote

Paul McCartney:
"In Fact that's why I started to grow a moustache.  It was pretty emberrassing, because around that time you knew your pictures would get winged off to teeny-boppery magazines like 16, and it was pretty difficult to have a new picture taken with a big fat lip.  So I started to grow a moustache--a sort of Sancho Panza thing--mainly to cover where my lip had been sewed."

So, who knows, maybe if all of that would've never happened none of them would've grown their hair! Imagine the Beatles in 1969 with short(or shorter) hair! I really can't, it's impossible to see them doing what they were doing with short hair.

He's nuts. I love that gap in his lip. The cheesy porn star mustache was ten times worse.

I agree- the mustache was just terrible! Although he did look kinda hot with a hint of stubble.

I don't like that picture.  Ya, but that chipped tooth looked so painful. But I don't even know how a fat lip and broken tooth can fuel such ridiculous rumors.

I think they would have eventually grown their hair out anyways.  The reason I think that is because it was the style.  

Your right though, it would does seem weird thinking of them doing their later music with the shorter hair!

I still think we're missing something.  Something else must've happened  because since he claims to have grown it because of the scar, why would he wait a year?

You know how pot makes time go by realllllyyy slow? Maybe that's what happened to him. It didn't occur to him to grow a mustache until a year later. (grin)

yeh i saw the tooth, i also saw the picture of Paul with the big scar that night it happened. How did Paul get hurt again ? it's because of a car accident right?
Good thing Paul didn't have a very big wound than that,  :-/  wasn't there pasta or jacket at that time so that Paul's tooth would already be repaired.

well apparently Paul had a car accident in late 1965 which caused him to have a scar & chiped tooth which you can see very clearly in the Paperback Writer vido!
