Following on from another discussion - this is a poll to determin what the age group is of our members. :)
-
I voted for 40-49, of course & I'm probably right about not that many young people being here.
-
We shall see :)
-
you wanna make a bet wayne? how many do you think are on here that are under 21? ill take over 10 and you take under 10. and if i win, you can no longer use outdated celebraties like justin timberlake and jessica simpson to make a point about the younger generation
-
20 years old, tomorrow i'll turn 21.
a lot of young people here :)
-
happy birthday to you then miss....
-
thank you ;D

legal to drink, join the army and go to prison...
i'm allowed to do this since i'm 16. 21 means nothing here, just one year older than 20 ^^
but thank you anyway the end ;)
-
Its tied for 16-20 and 40-49 looks like you were wrong Wayne. tkitna I had the same problem, I dont know whats wrong with the poll :-/
-
Yeah, happy birthday komakino!
-
I voted but for some reason it is not accepting it.
Which category did you want to vote in TK - I'll add it for you :)

-

Not at all - highly topical! ;D
-
My vote has created an interesting tie :)
-
just in time for voting before I get older
-
My vote was not included. I clicked on it many times, but it was not accepted. I think the votes of other voters were not accepted too. Nowhereperson was the last one on september 10th.

The same here ::) ... just a test in order to see if the trouble was solved ... let's wait more time (I could reach another season 8))
-
I'll be 20 this February :)
-
The poll is now working again - please vote! ;D
-
The poll is now working again - please vote! ;D
still not working for me...same with all the other polls
-
Not working for me, either.
Anyways, I'm 17. Been a fan since age 11.
-
I've updated the poll manually - so everyone's ages should now be on here.
-
Im 16 and yeah there are a lot of young people here Wayne. It has been a long time since I have been on here, for some reason I could not sign onto my account for about a month :'(
-
we win....
-
Its not over yet .Im a forty plus wayne . Class lasts ,the beatles, were and today a big influence on a lot of up and coming bands ,you`ll be suprised how many young people are listening to the greatest band of alltime . ;D
-
Seems that the poll work fine!
-
i'm 14
-
It seems quite even between the ages of 10-30. Not bad for a group that hasn't been together for over 30 years! I am not in the original fan base- born too late, damnit! But my love is pure. ;)
-
27, in two weeks I'll be one year older ;)
So I voted...
-
I'm 62. I guess I'm increasing the average age on this forum just a bit. ;D
I'm amazed at how many young fans the Beatles have.
I wonder if there are any other groups that were popular in the 1960's that have so many young fans. Maybe the Rolling Stones?
-

Yes, you are! :P But I'm glad to have you here :) ... we need the point of view of young and not so young ;) people! ;D

I think that the Rolling Stones haven't got so many young fans because their merchandising and publicity are not so good ... but, on the other hand, they are still recording and touring, so I'm not sure, but it's my impression! :)

Deep within the darkest depths of the Blue Meanie brain, I have an ever so faint memory of cigarettes being airbrushed out of some Beatles publicity material a few years ago. Is this true, or does my mind play tricks?
Rax, I'm sure you can find a thread relating to this? Although it may have been before this forum was set up.

Dammit! Another 3 yearss and you could have bumped us old gits up a bit further!

Alright, here's an example.

The same thing happened with Paul ciggie on the cover of Abbey Road for instance.

His ciggie's on the cover of mine.
It seems to be removed in recent years.

It seems to be removed in recent years.
I'll look out for that. The CD I have now is only about 4 years old, but the ciggy's there.
-
I seem to remember that the picture from the Can't buy me love picture sleeve was used for something and the picture was airbrushed out.
-
Beatles Abbey Road cigarette airbrushed
United States poster companies have airbrushed the classic Beatles Abbey Road album cover to remove a cigarette from Paul McCartney's hand.
The move was made without the permission of either McCartney or Apple Records, which owns the rights to the image. It seems these poster companies got a little carried away
The original copy shows a barefoot McCartney third in line on the famous road crossing holding a cigarette.
But politically correct US poster companies have airbrushed out the offending cigarette, to the delight of anti-smoking campaigners.
"We have never agreed to anything like this," said an Apple spokesman.
"It seems these poster companies got a little carried away.
McCartney came up with the original idea for the sleeve
"They shouldn't have done what they have, but there isn't much we can do about it now."
The move comes 14 months after guitarist George Harrison died from cancer, which he blamed on smoking.
All of the Beatles were heavy smokers during the 1960s and 70s.
The 1969 image has been a poster classic since it was taken near Abbey Road studios in north London, where the group recorded most of their music.
The shot is one of pop's most controversial album covers.
Photographer Iain Macmillan was given just ten minutes to take the picture outside the studios.
He balanced on a stepladder and took six photographs of the four walking across a zebra crossing.
Death myth
It was McCartney who selected the cover shot.
He had, in fact, come up with the original idea for the sleeve and had presented Macmillan with a sketch for it.
A myth suggesting that Paul McCartney had died in a car crash and been replaced by a look-a-like grew up around the picture soon after it was released.
Clues could supposedly be found in the image.
The white-suited John Lennon symbolised the preacher heading the funeral procession, while the bare-footed McCartney was the corpse.
According to the rumours, proof positive of the impostor theory was the fact that Paul was holding a cigarette in his right hand, despite being left-handed.

;D I'm only 13! Am I the youngest one on here? :o WOW! There are a lot of people around my age on here!
-
17=)
-
I seem to be old enough to be most peoples father! Or grandfather in some cases :'(
-
Seeing how the younguns have got their lyrics and broken hearts threasd, we should have a forty plus thread. We could compare ailments and bang on about the good old days.

And moan about 'the youth of today', and how we never had it that good, and they don't know when they're born etc. etc.!
Not a bad idea :)

I don't know I'm born.
No, honest.

it was NOT a pleasure! Just kidding ;D
And u can always dye your socks pink, or u can buy lady socks and wear them mysteriously or u can "turn off your mind relax and" imagine they are pink (and Paulsie's). Ooh, imagine pink socks with YOUR avatar printed on them. Now that will make at least one person happy ::)
-
wow good poll really isnt it- veeeeeery interesting. It's good though- young fans mean their legend will be kept strong and hopefully passed onto more and more generations. I know that if I have kids they will listen to the beatles instead of nursery rhymes :) Maybe with a bit of Hare Krishna chanting for good measure 8)
But actually maybe it's better to guide a kid towards the beatles rather than enforcing them...so they don't get bored ... help them to discover the beatles for themselves... hmm I will carefully analyse my approach :D
-
wow good poll really isnt it- veeeeeery interesting.
Well, it is a Paul aint it? :P
But yea, imagine what it will be like to explain to your kids in the future (not so near one for me :)) what the beatles were (like). It's almost like, I suppose, Macca singing When Im 64, thinking "Gee, what will happen when Im 64..." Im not making much sense do i? what can one expect at 10.43pm?
-

haha!!

Wow, it's cool that there are users here from all parts of the age-spectrum, so to speak. Makes discussions more interesting ;D

Welcome, Winter and Ohyea! The whipper-snappers are pulling ahead. Come on, people, AGE! ;D Cheers.
-
Half of the votes are from teenagers!!! :)

I would say this is the case because teenagers have more time surf the net? (I'm practicing my statistics here... :P)

Or the teenagers at heart. I think I'm the one who found and revived this thread from a quiet rest. *quickly searches the forum for more polls to fill out* ;)

Nice work, Andy! Everyone, keep up your aging exercises for a year, and I guarantee you'll see results! :)
I'm doing my best!!!
This quote alone tells me you are a man, apart from any other evidence. So light-hearted, you lucky dog. I am certainly not doing my best to age. I think I just have natural talent in this direction. ;D
-
I am 26. I know I have said before, heheheh.
-
and people say we are too young to be Beatles fans ;D
-
I see that you are 24, Andy Smith, heheheh. You are right: people don't stop telling me exactly that. I don't mind now, after so many years, heheheh.
-
I'm 19
-
I am 46 , how did that happen ;) :P
-
I'm 17 but I wish I could say I was in my 50's or 60's that way I would have been alive when the beatles were big! aw.. its sooo not fair. :(
-

Wow, never heard anyone say that before! I'm genrally thinking that i was around in
another life in the 60's & witnessed It! :P ;D
-
I am 46 , how did that happen ;) :P
It just creeps up on you mate. I'm 49 next month, and I don't care!!! Enjoy it.
EDIT: I see the oldies are slipping back in the poll. Better start recruiting on street corners.
-
and i'm 16! ;)
-
It's so cool that there are so many young'uns that are digging the Beatles. It renews my faith in our youth. On the other hand, I have underwear older than most of them. The only thing that sucks about getting older is that, you don't feel like it, but the increasing number of grays on my head tells me time keeps marching on.

That's why God invented hair dye, 834! ;)
Er, what do you do when you jump decades? That 50+ category is looming awfully close...

I will be 50 in precisely 53 sundays from now. It is a terrible thought. And when I look in the mirror I don't see that same face that's been staring back at me ever since the ruskies threw sputnik into space. Bits of me are moving.
-
It's so cool that there are so many young'uns that are digging the Beatles. It renews my faith in our youth.
Yeah, looks like most of the votes are in the 16-20 range. And I'm one of those at 16, and I'm probably one of the youngest people on the forum. But, I love the Beatles sooooo much and I'm very happy that I stumbled upon them one day! ;D I really like how more and more people are becoming fans every day, and people like the ones on this forum keep it all going. I only wish that other kids could discover what real music is, like I did. They have no idea what they're missing out on! The Beatles are still the biggest band in the world, but kids nowadays think that people like 50 Cent or whatever are. Some of them don't even know who the Beatles are.
-
I'm probably one of the youngest people on the forum.
Not quite... :P ;)
-
Great post, Beatlemaniac64! I don't know who 50 Cent are, so the balance of the universe is maintained. :)
Bits of me are moving.
Good! That means you're still alive. ;)
-
Thanks harihead!
-
Not quite... :P ;)
Haha, are you the youngest, or one of the very youngest? ;D ;)
-
One of the youngest I think... 14
-
It's so good to see so many people in my group! Hehe!! I'm 19 people, and really glad to been listening to Beatles music in a regular form in the last 4 years!
-
Wow, many young fans here! I am an old 34.
-

You think yourself lucky!! ;)
-
Wow, that's a lot of young fans! I thought I was on the younger side, but I'm 21!
-
The young fan number actually doesn't surprise me - most Internet-goers are of the younger generation, remember. Good for you, older people. ;) I bet if we took an offline poll of fans, the numbers would actually be quite different.

Good point... thiking like a good statistician should! ;) ;D
-
It's so good to see Beatles fans everywhere. For example my trainer at the gym is a friend of mine for almost 3 years now, and I've just noticed a few days ago that he's a big Beatles fan. 3 years and we never talked about music! :P
-
Good point... thiking like a good statistician should! ;) ;D
Thanks. xD Y'know, that would actually be quite interesting to do...maybe I'll try that in my eons of spare time!

Man, I feel like an old lady. I'm 21. My little sister is 16 she's a big Beatles fan too, I think it's AWESOME that people her age (and younger) are so into the Beatles. Their music will never die :)
-
Hi :)
I'll be 44 tomorrow... ;D
Snoopy
-
I'm 47. I discovered the Beatles when I was 8.
Is it just coincidence i was in born in 1962, when the Beatles first single came out? I'm a Marilyn Monroe fan too, and she was murdered two months after I was born.

It probably disappered a long time ago during the transition. I've added a new poll, but right now it's empty.

I voted for 40-49, of course & I'm probably right about not that many young people being here.

Wassap with the caps? When you CAPS EVERYTHING people think you're shouting.
No disrespect intended, just putting that out there.

My birthday is only 3 days after Paul's :-*
-
I was 7 months old when I watched the Beatles' first performance on Ed Sullivan. ;)
-
You got the wrong idea about our generation. For example, I'm 14 and I hate lady gaga crap... Most of my friends are Beatles fans that are just slightly unwilling to admit it. Those who aren't do like a few Beatles songs and don't even know it. Me and my friends who are starting a band actually jam to a number of beatles songs. We aren't stupid, we all like good music. Occasionally we fall for a well-known pop song. We learn the words and put them on our ipod's just to keep face, but me, I just don't care. I have every beatles song ever on my ipod and I don't care who thinks it's wierd.
-
Okay who's 90+ here? lol XD
-
^Hehe ;D
I just turned 20 almost two weeks ago.
-
i just sneak into the 30 - 40 catagory ;)
-
I wonder if anyone is 64? :D
-
I'm 14. ;) God, it irks me when my friends say something about The Beatles' music being 'old'- since when was their an expiration date on music, and real, auto-tune-free music at that? I'll let them keep their Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber any day of the week.

It does my (old) heart good to know that The Beatles will live on!
-
Does my heart good to see so many fans of all ages. I'm thrilled that the Fab Four are still so popular among the younger set, too! ;D
-
so nobody over 90 ?
-
Working on it.
:P
-
i will be 40 in 17 days ( not that i'm counting ) :(
-
Fool, I think The Beatles are appropriate for all ages!
I mean, I like Coldplay, but they're doing what The Beatles did, 50 years ago.
Oh, and I'll be turning 29 in October. :)
-
I'm 32, so I'm in one of the smallest populations of the forum. It's curious that either younger or older ages have more people in the forum, there seems to be a generational gap. But well, I belong to the X-generation, I guess that most people of my age preferred to listen to Nirvana rather than the Beatles. New generations didn't have such an iconic figure as Kurt Cobain.

I'll be 21 in five days

Hi Mairi! How are you? The big 21, I remember when I turned 21. I had a fake ID when I was 15 years old and was going to bars at a very young age. By the time I turned 21, the thrill was gone. Now I'm 50 years old but still act like I'm 21! The years go by fast! I hope that you're 21st "B" day will be your best to date. Take care.
-
Turning 17 tomorrow. :)
-
Turning 17 tomorrow. :)
How's it going "The 5th Beatle?" I hope all is well with you. I'll be wishing you a Happy "B" Day tomorrow as well as play "Birthday" at work all day. Thank you for keeping THE BEATLES' legend alive. Take care.

That's very kind of you. The Beatles' legend will always live thanks to people like me and you and everybody else around here. You take care, too.

Hi 5th Beatle! I love it when the young men and women love THE BEATLES despite being born years after they broke up. That really fascinates me! My Girlfriend's son is only 9 years old and he knows a lot about THE BEATLES. My Girlfriend has heard THE BEATLES music on and off for many years but now she's a hardcore devout BEATLES fanatic like myself. I didn't even have to push THE BEATLES music on her, I let the music speak for itself. Take care.
-
I'm surprised at the results. I'd have thought most people wud b in there 40's, 50's, 60's.

Hi Toejam! I've been thinking about your recent post and the only conclusion/answer (I may be wrong) that I can come up with is that many people in their 40's, 50's and 60's may not know how to use a computer. Take care.

Born in 1958 I was just a little late to take it all in as it happend ,so to speak, but was well aware of the ubiquitous prescence of"The Beatles", on radio and my elder sisters record player throughout the mid sixties in particular .It was only really on John,s death that my thoughts were once again turned to the music that was indeed the sound track to my formative years. I have been a dyed in the wool fan for over thirty years now and love all the music produced by the three main song writers of the band and also have most of their solo material which I listen to and appreciate as much as their collective efforts with The Beatles .It all just gets better with age !!
