  • "The Beatles will exist without us." - George

I'm starting to like the songs I didn't really like too much/at all when I first heard them and after I listened to them through for awhile I've grown to like them. The songs that I'm talking about are Come Together,Octopus's Garden,Happiness Is A Warm Gun,I'm So Tired,Good Night and Let It Be.What are some songs that you didn't like at first but now you like them?

Not to pick on George but the first few times I heard "Within You, Without You" I had to skip it. Then I started listening to it and paying attention to the lyrics and now I love it. "Blue Jay Way" didn't do much for me either but now I like it.

Yep, I had that problem with a few :

"She's Leaving Home" - though now it's in my top 10
"Eleanor Rigby" - first time I heard it, it seemed so short and I couldn't pay any attention to the lyrics, so I thought it was just another ordinary Beatles song. One of my favourites right now.
"Oh! Darling" - first listen : "What the hell is he yelling about?". Right now : top 10 as well.

Those 3 were the first that I could think of.

"Why Don't We Do It In The Road"

I hated that song, was pretty much my least favorite Beatles song, ever below Revolution 9. But now, I can't get enough of it! I just love the way Paul signs it.

Welcome to the Forum, Russel!

What do you think of Paul's early take of Why Don't We Do It In The Road?

Not that I hated it...

but has to be

She´s Leaving Home. The mono version did it for me. I love it now.

I´m still waiting to really like I Am the Walrus.

Same here. Parts are okay but other parts, not so much.

My loathing for "I Am the Walrus" has been well documented on this forum, however, I've found myself warming up to it lately.

I didnt like Mother Nature's Son at the begining. But then I heard it how Paul sang it in the Back in the USA tour, and I liked it so I started listening to the Beatles version more often.

As with Why Dont We Do It In the Road... I dont particularly liked it then or now but I find it funny.

Hehe, I still dont like that song. Love the lyrics, but not the way George sings it

I have always enjoyed Walrus.  You have to be in the right frame of mind I think.  Channel your inner John and roll with it. 8)

The reason I don't like it is because of the way it sounds and I usually skip the ending. My favorite part has always been "Sitting an English garden waiting for the sun,if the sun don't come you get a tan from standing in the English rain".I love what you said about channeling my inner John, that's the best thing I've heard all day!

I like that part too for some reason. Sitting on a cornflake is kind of amusing too. I always imagine a tiny little John floating around in a bowl of milk. I guess that's from watching The Exciting Adventure of Paul on the Floor too many times.  :)

Interesting thread! It took me a long time to warm up to "Walrus," but now I like it.

I detested "Hey Jude" for years because, as I mentioned on a different forum, when I was in 8th grade we sang it for All-County Chorus and spent an ENTIRE WEEKEND rehearsing it. By Sunday afternoon I was ready to scream if I had to hear it one more time. However, that was a long (long!) time ago, and I can finally appreciate again what a beautiful song it is. I actually play it quite a lot now.

I didn't like "I Feel Fine" because I first heard it on 'Beatles '65' with all of the echo and thought it sounded horrible. Then I heard the British mixes and started to love it. Stereo "I Feel Fine" is heaven now...
