Tony Sheridan
« on: February 27, 2004, 02:26:03 AM »

alot of the sheridan recordings were true stereo.....i think the beatles did more than what was on the album that was released.i have heard skinnie minnie, swannee river, rip it up and a long version of ya ya.i heard kansas city was recorded as well but doubt that.there was also a longer version of cry for a shawdow.there were two sessions.
also tonys band was  called the beat brothers.which featured 3 different line ups thru their career.one of them had tony himself, roy young(who turned joining the beatles and journeying to america down)and ringo starr...

During a recording session in Hamburg's Friedrich-Ebert-Halle that lasted several days in the summer of 1961, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and drummer Pete Best recorded eight songs with Sheridan. Two of those songs were released as a 7-inch single 45 produced by the German musician Bert Kaempfert for the German Polydor label. The A side was "My Bonnie," the traditional Scottish tune the Beatles often performed for fun in the clubs in Hamburg's Reeperbahn red-light district. The B side was another traditional tune, "When the Saints Go Marching In," shortened on the record label to just "The Saints."

Released in October 1961, the "My Bonnie/The Saints" single made it to fifth place on the German music charts. That Polydor record by "Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers" (later labels had "...and The Beatles") is now considered the first commercial record by the Beatles. It was the first time anyone could buy a record with the sounds of the Beatles. On the version released in Germany, Sheridan sang a few introductory German verses for "My Bonnie." The "Mein Herz ist bei dir nur" lines are followed by the traditional English "My Bonnie lies over the ocean" lyrics. Today anyone with a copy of that original German release

i have been trying to find documentation as to ringos relationship with tony sheridan as ringo was also one of the beat brothers on some of tonys german recordings.if sheridan used any of the beatles recordings on a disc with ringos recordings then the beatles were on vynil together b4 being an actual group.for this to hold water tho we need to ask tony maybe.......
so what do you forumites think?am i delusioned or what?

seems album wrap is an easier format to download.so albumwraps are a recording which transfer easier from computer to computer.i thought it was like all the tape from a recording session.because i got a file of tony and the early beatles with pete on rum..i mean drums.ya ya is the long version, kansas city and rip it up are there.the latter two are preportedly recorded by him and them also.some claim they are no present but who cares its cool to listen to.
tony was very elvis like.he was a big star in germany and here nothing.but to me he is part of the beatle legacy just as much than say buddy holly or gene vincent.they actually met gene in germany too.
having never really idolized elvis i cannot see why john did.i bet he changed his mind when he met gene vincent.what a spectacle they must have been in hamburg.i wished i had been there.raw rock and roll.there is nothing else like it.
