Early on, Ringo's set included a 20" bass drum:

Hello, People. I have indeed. I am Dug mcleod, and I am a drumaholic from Manchester who can't resist taking in stray drum kits, and nursing them back to health. Thing is, I just can't bring myself to release them back into the wild again, and as a result, I now have nine drum kits, over a dozen snare drums, and lets not get started on my other gear.

The kit mr Kite shows is a Premier 1962 '58 kit, in Mahogany duroplastic finish. It's my favourite colour (besides white marine pearl) and is a lovely polychromatic finish (it changes colour in shifting light) all brass, copper, and mahogany swirls. Beautiful, and unique to Britains greatest drum maker, Premier of Leicester.

The hardware is all flushbased, and the pedal is a 250S with a lambswool and leather bound cork beater. All original. The skins are all pre international Everplay skins, totally original from 45 years ago.

20" bass drum

12" mounted tom tom

16" floor tom

14"X 5.5" Royal ace snare drum

I am now in pursuit of the bicycle styled Premier seat to complete the kit. I paid £200 for it, and did a 500 mile round trip to go and pick it up from down south. I have had many Premier buffs commend me on the job I have done on restoring her. The chromework is simply beautiful (Premier's world renowned triple plated chrome)

I reckon Ringo shoulda stuck with Premier, but having said that, I have played a 1967 champagne sparkle Ludwig, and the bass drum was simply astonishing (Like a howitzer going off!!)

I guess I am just a patriotic fool, but the design and build quality of Premier drums back then shames most stufff of today.

Hello there, Blue meanie!! I am indeed. In fact, we work together, too. He is a sound bloke, with great taste in music. He does need to practice a bit more on the guitar, though. :B
