And to be even fairer to Paul, he at least didn't have Yoko singing the choruses.

Also, 'Irish' was recorded (and presumably already written) just two days after the specific events in Northern Ireland which inspired it.
Indeed, like 'Instant Karma' and 'Ohio' before it, the whole process from initial thought through to the 45 being available in the shops seems to have happened remarkably quickly.

One thing I noticed is that it was released on the same day in the UK as 'Pink Moon', Nick Drake's last LP, and, it seems, recorded initially in the same studios (Island).

That's interesting. And makes the exercise understandable. Most of us have visceral reaction to things happening to kids. It can be easy to get outraged and respond reflexively in a way that isn't necessarily by the book logical. We aren't a race of Mr Spocks.

But if the experience turned Paul of protest songs I can't say I'm sorry. I don't think an album of pro-vegan anti-meat songs anyone needed from him.

I remember buying Ohio on 45 RPM about a month after Kent State.  It wasn't played on many radio stations that summer.  WBAI-FM played it often.

So Paul got a little political with this one (thank goodness he's not one of those that goes all out like Bono and so forth), its the only decent song off of 'Wild Life' and it was a bonus tune if that tells you anything.

Sure it is......the whole summer? Nice. Matthew has his license and has become a pretty kick ass drummer (better than me should I say). Abbey is skipping her last 2 years of high school and attending college in August, so I need to teach her how to drive.

They grow up to fast pal.
