The wedding of the Beatles drummer Ringo Starr to Barbara Bach is one of the images featured in the touring exhibition Photo: TERRY O'NEILL/ NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

The ex-Beatle married The Spy Who Loved Me star Bach in April 1981, less than six months after John Lennon was shot dead.

It was Bach's second marriage - she separated from her first husband, an Italian businessman called Augusto Gregorini, in 1975.

Also pictured are Sir Paul McCartney and his first wife Linda and George Harrison and his second wife, Mexican-born Olivia Trinidad Arias.

While Sir Paul remained married to Linda until her death from cancer in 1998, he went on to marry again.

The image, from the National Portrait Gallery, is currently at Museums Sheffield as part of the NPG's touring exhibition Family Album.

What a good memory.

Thanks for posting.

I recall seeing this as a young boy.  This picture made me think
of a possible threetles reuion that would eventually take place.

Notice how Paul is hugging Ringo.  There was always that distance between Paul and George.  I guess Ringo is
the bond between the two.   Ringo was cool with all of them.

Yes, I have this in colour. Is Paul hugging Ringo though, looks like Barbara's hand to me?

Paul is not hugging Ringo, Barbara is. And who is the boy below?

Dhani Harrison.

Oh, thank you! George and Olivia seem to be most naturally happy in this picture. Actually they look great!

The little boy is Barbara's son, Gianni Gregorini. She also has a daughter, Francesca Gregorini. Dana ; )

Was there really always a distance? I remember reading that when they shared hotel suites, Paul and George shared a room, and John and Ringo shared a room. And Paul and George were friends from riding the school bus together before the others were. Still, though, I guess there was friction later between Paul and George-- but really, that was between Paul and everyone.

Anyway, it's a super-cool picture! I do wonder why Linda looks so irritated. But George and Olivia look adorable, and of course Ringo and Barbara do too.

Linda looks annoyed because she's holding James, who looks a bit heavy to be carried like that! In another photo taken a moment before or after this one, he's nowhere to be seen, so having been in similar situations myself, she's a grumpy mum with a kid who won't stay put, but that makes it more of a family wedding shot for me, you know  -  kids running in and out of pictures, etc.
