Lennon ‘bed-in’ photos offered at Leland’s auction

Photojournalist Gerry Deiter documented the protest, which began May 26, 1969. Deiter snapped intimate portraits of the newlyweds as they sang, composed, conversed, slept and rejoiced in the warm glow of peace during the eight-day event designed to show the world that peace, love and harmony were the true path for all mankind. Images show John and Yoko enjoying quiet moments together, playing with daughter Kyoko, composing and recording the anthemic “Give Peace A Chance,” receiving a wide variety of guests (including the confrontational Al Capp, who tried to incite a fight) and finally leaving the bed after eight days.
