I'm wagering they'll use excerpts as linking music or something. They can't ignore it completely

Or they'll go all out and turn it into a trance electronica piece for the clubber set.

Looks great! I still want to know how Revolution 9 was re-created in a live performance. Please tell me they didn't have a Yoko impersonator there or, worse, the real thing! ;)

It was basically an approximation of the track, done mainly with the orchestra and various people saying things like 'The Watusi'  'el dorado'.......truth be known it may have been better than the original ;D

although it was shorter and there were bits missing like the chanting, and Yoko's voice...... I enjoyed it and wondered if actually I am a fan of Revolution No 9, I realized there are parts of it that are really very nice

Wow...it was a life-altering experience then! Seriously, though, I'm glad you enjoyed it. When I've listened to the track, which has only been a few times, I've had this feeling like there might be something to it then by the end I just want to tear my hair out.

Im not too good at reviews  :(

today's about celebrating some of the most amazing songs ever written, and, with the help of The Living End's Chris Cheney, Grinspoon's Phil Jamieson, Tim Rogers of You Am I and Josh Pyke, celebrate we do.

OK there were 4 guys and a huge backing group inc strings & brass

The 4 guys were not imitating J,P,G & R as per regular tribute bands

How it worked was the big band was constantly onstage and the 4 guys too turns to come on and sing a track, not dressed in any way like Beatles, really as themselves. Sometimes all 4 were onstage.

I thought 2 of the guys were way better than the other two Josh Pyke & Chris Cheney are very good, better than the other two

Tim Rogers and Jamieson struggled with Lennons Dear Prudence, Warm Gun, Yer Blues  and Im So Tired, his voice didnt have the power that John puts out towards the end of the songs

Cheney did the McCartney Rockers very well, thats him on the vid I posted.

The band was excellent, with superb sounding guitars throughout (No Fenders, all Gibsons I think)

They did it track for track and I really enjoyed it except for the weakish vocals on the Lennon tracks, there was some humour by Rogers throughout but he sang Goodnight pretty much off key at times.

They did an encore which was A Day In The Life which I though was superb

Heres a review I thought pretty accurate;

Judging by the video you posted Cheney is pretty good. He's the only one I hadn't heard of before.

Thanks for the info on it I think there's tickets left for the Canberra show. Not sure I'll make it though.
