He made his best music while he was smoking pot. Doubt it would be a gateway drug at his age. He was taking LSD before she was conceived. And of course your head is going to be clearer when you're not high--THAT'S WHY YOU SMOKE POT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Yes, sorry Mairi, it's true. And he has had sex as well, with several women... But it is all part of living a rock-'n-roll lifestyle, I guess.  ;D

Is it funny that Paul smoked pot makes Ireland's "breaking news."

But I do think that years of pot use and abuse can dull you.  In the article Paul admits how much clearer his conversation (and his thinking, hopefully) is now to his friends.

I think any drug you do for forty years (whether THC or alcohol) can have a detrimental effect on your mental capabilities--especially if done to excess.

Heather must have thought he was smoking too much pot for his own good.  And Paul must have agreed.

The question of the relation of drugs and creativity is a tough one.  Paul and the rest of the Beatles obviously made some great music on drugs--especially during their first years of experience with them.

I wonder what those albums would have been like (or if they would have been made) if the Beatles had never done drugs.  Would they have become the Osmonds?

Scary thought.

I remember making a thread about what would happen if the Beatles never did drugs. I forget exactly what I said, but y'know, I still think that drugs were a factor in the break-up.

Regarding the breakup, I agree, Mairi.  It's amazing in Beatles books, how they blame everything and everyone, but drugs (and drug-induced paranoia), for the breakup.

Funny how the junky Stones stayed together.  Mick seems to have enough business savvy (and was not a heroin addict) to keep Keef alive and going.

I'd like to see your thread on the clean and sober Beatles alternative universe.

Fair enough to the man. After about a month of smoking pot your speech does become more punchy and words don't come so easily to mind. I recall a scene in the Let It Be movie where Paul is explaining some long winded piece of stoned wisdom and George counters him by saying "Why?" Macca's response: "Well, I don't know really". Haha.

Just imagine how good the stuff a guy like Paul McCartney's been getting all these years.  Ain't no dirt weed, that's for sure.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

What I wouldn't give to spark a doob with Macca....

I'm not sure how to reply to this. We don't know the whole story behind the story. I'm just wondering why Heather didn't protest earlier.

You're willing to accept all the bad things you hear about her, and yet when you hear something good, you're skeptical.

Because Heather is the heinous, horrible, Antichrist from Hell you believe her to be. Y'know, Luv, this could be a sign of conflict, and you know that means divorce is imminent...

LOL!

And junior, grow up. I have a right to be skeptical because I don't know the whole story. The press usually doesn't give readers the whole story.
