You've been out a-paintin' the town

Don't worry none, they'll say "Before we listened to The Beatles, they were listening to...this" and there it'll be. All the lyrics sites say, "steppin' around". That's definitely not "steppin'" he's saying there. It sounds more like "slippin'" but I think the slippin' is Carl, trying to slip something past the censors.

Carl Perkins was a more explicit in this take...

Yep, that's what he said! I'm so glad The Beatles covered Carl Perkins. Otherwise, I might not have heard anything but Blue Suede Shoes.

Has anyone heard the Sgt Pepper At 50 documentary on Sirius? It was magical, a must listen for any Beatles Fan. A lot of stuff you probably already know but there were a lot of new snippet interviews and outtakes that I never heard before. It was presented in a very straight forward manner, no fluff. They drilled into each song with lots of anecdotes, early takes and composition details.

I would love to hear the "naked" concept applied to other albums besides Let It Be. Just the Beatles and the backing track. That's magic right there! But there are parts of these songs that sound so incredible in an altered form, for example, the score and harp for "She's Leaving Home" is a masterpiece.
I don't want to spoil it since I know a lot of you on this thread have Sirius, but I had a  60 mile drive the other day and this was the perfect companion.

One thing that always amazes me about the Beatles is even though I love the songs, sometimes I prefer the alternate versions better, or the stripped down versions of some of these songs.

I'm really enjoying listening to Billy Joel playing all the American albums tonight. I knew he was a big fan and he's got some interesting observations. I had plenty of time to listen while I was driving the 15 miles required to retrieve my iPad from the grocery store where I left it.  roll:)

If you kept your iPad playing SiriusXM, then maybe you wouldn't have left it in the grocery store.

Well, I wasn't listening to anything; I have my list on it. But I always put in my bag as soon as I've checked everything off. This time, though I left it out to have a coupon from their website scanned and that's how I got into trouble. I'm never doing that again!

Write your shopping list on a piece of paper.  You can leave that behind and not have to go back for it.

As for the coupons, don't you get them in all the junk mail that's delivered every day?

Make believe it's the 1960s   :)

I'd like that too. We got a taste of it with the stripped down Good Morning, Good Morning on anthology. I also had somewhere (not sure if it's on anthology as well) I Am the Walrus with just the vocal and basic backing track. Sounded more like a grunge song. Obviously I love the proper version but it is cool to hear them played as just a four piece rock band.

Yes.  It's on Anthology 2, Moog.

I never did find that, Casbah. I was hoping to.

Same here. The Anthologies were a real eye opener!

LOL That certainly sounds like the logical thing for me to do, Barry, but somehow I would find some other thing to forget. I'm genetically predisposed to that sort of thing.

Yes.  It's on Anthology 2, Moog.

So it is.  All these iTunes downloads are hard to keep track of. It was simpler when I just had big album covers to read.

We had free satellite radio this week and I listened to the Beatles channel for about a day.  Great channel, but I'm sick of the Beatles again.  Lol.  It was like Beatles overload.
