what color would your bucket be???????
« on: April 19, 2005, 10:07:32 PM »

seeing how i am a roofer i require hand tools.to keep them and my pouch dry i use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.i like green buckets so i have a green one for my tools and a red one for my nails.i had orange one once b4,a white,a black, red andgray.i keep looking 4 a purple one tho.other roofers use the bucket trick too.so if you were a roofer what color would your bucket be?
and how do you think pete should have been paid for the anthologies?a flat rate vs a lump sum?

I'd drop any organizational aspect of the buckets and randomly paint all over them. o_

I'm sure Pete gets a royalty rate for the Anthologies........and possibly an upfront sum came as well..........either way, he's got plenty of cash for a guy that most high school kids could outdrum.

tis true.i always thought he should have got naught.why?because if he ever had talent he would not have resorted to baking bread in the 70s.
he could have been just lucky that his mom opened a basement club.
he has made many comments that leads one to the conclusion he is bitter about being bounced.the remark that he was in india b4 the beatles was one.i don't really think he practiced the teachings of hindu dietys there tho....so why the sharp remark.
and for everyone that says pete was a nice guy,i can show you two who didn't get his autograph because it cost too much or they thought it was over priced.after all ringo gives his away in the saloon in monte carlo. doesn't he?if he is to busy mark h will hook you up.....

Why the down on Pete? That's like being down on their old Liverpool friends who played in the Quarrymen, etc. Even if Pete weren't a good drummer, and had to bake bread, where's the problem with that? Is it his fault he drummed with the Beatles for a few years?

And I'm not convinced he was a horrible drummer. To my ear (keyboard player) the drumming on the Decca tapes isn't horrible, and on the Star Club tapes it doesn't stand out as vomit-inducing either. Maybe it wasn't Bonham or Baker or Starr, but remember that was 1962!

Am I missing something?

Yes. The drumming on the Star Club tapes was Ringo's.

OK, sorry, I thought it was bash Pete time, and I didn't know if he'd done something naughty.

Ringo at Star Club ...

>> smacks head with brick, makes "I knew that!" sound.

Ouch!

But my point was, to this non-drummer amateur musician's ears, Pete's drumming on the Decca tapes was absolutely passable. Then again, I like the Carpenters, so all opinions are suspect ...

As with Stuart Sutcliffe there have been a number of completely wrong stories attached to him and Pete which writers over the years have included and embellished in books. Take that silly story which some writers put forward that one of the reasons why Pete was sacked was because he refused to have his hair styled in the mop top like the others. Radish! Pete told me that he was never asked and that if he had been, he would have agreed. Astrid, who styled George and Stu in that fashion, but not John and Paul (Jurgen Vollmer did that) said that she never asked Pete because she thought his hair was too curly for the style. After Ringo joined, Brian Epstein had their hair styled at Horne Bros in Liverpool.
