Thank you In My Life, tkitna, and Dcazz!  ;D

Dcazz,
That's so cool that you do WWII also! Are you a reenactor? Or collector? My boyfriend plays the role of a sergeant in the American forces. He has mostly original clothing and his own original jeep from 1942. I'm not a registered reenactor yet, but I go to events and dances and dress as an American civilian. Thanks for asking! Here's a pic of us together. This was at a Memorial Day parade we were in:

No, I don't reenact but I have an Arisaka 7.7mm Japanese rifle that I have restored and occasionally shoot. Here's to the greatest generation!
Oh, you two make a lovely couple!!! Keep us informed on your events!

My boyfriend is a WWII reenactor and I've gotten into it as well  ;)

I know of people being Civil War reenactors but I didn't realize it was done for WWII as well. I'm curious; how did he become interested in it?

In My Life,

Yes, there are reenactors for several different wars, some definitely not as popular as others. I believe Civil and WWII are the most popular. Anyways, here's how he became interested: him and his younger brother were always into army things, but not yet particularly WWII. One day they somehow met a guy who was a WWII reenactor and collector and who also served overseas in Iraq. He turned them on to WWII specifically. My boyfriend was about 12 at the time. Now he's almost 26 and still as dedicated as ever! And still is friends with the guy who got him interested.

Dcazz,

My boyfriend got the jeep when he was 15 years old. An older guy who is the leader of their WWII troop found it in an abandoned airport! And gave it to him. Over the years, they all have acquired vehicles and spend a lot of time working on them. Here is a picture of the jeep when it was found. Nowadays, much of the parts on it are not original, but extremely true to the style!

It's good know that the sacrifices made by people like my dad, who was a B-24 Liberator pilot, are not being forgotten.

Every 4th of July my wifes family has their reunion at a farm in down state West Virginia. I love her family. Seriously, they are the closest family I have ever met and they are a large family.

Here's my wife, daughter and me and the sister-in-law and her boyfriend Eric on the other side.

All the 1st cousins (well most of them. Some didn't show up)

The whole family.

Good times.

I was thinking of you a week or so ago at the Orlando airport, ibanez_ax! They had a Lids store, and my son was so excited to look for Eagles merchandise. They had NONE (I asked). I was surprised that an East coast store wouldn't have any Eagles stuff. Boo!   >:(

I'm guessing they had a lot of Buccaneers stuff, being close to Tampa.

They did, and a lot of Yankees stuff, too, and other Eastern teams. Seemed only fair that the Eagles should have been stocked, too, but -- oh, well.

Thanks, Dave! We lived in land-locked Nevada for several years, so my kids aren't too used to boats, but they are learning to like them fast! He had a good time.

Liking boats is one of the easiest things for a kid to do! I started on a 16 1/2 foot Town Class sailboat When I was 9 and graduated to a 17 foot Penn Yann with a 65 hp Merc when I was 16. All my summers were fishing, waterskiing and working at night to pay for the gas!
