I must admit I raised my eyebrow to learn that Ringo was singing about "Boys". However, it's possible when you listen to it that Ringo is just saying the obvious to his audience: "Boys (such as us, these prime examples right here), what a bundle of joy. (Get
your Beatle today!)". So it wasn't so obviously strange or potentially gay-sounding when I finally heard it. However, I can see why the gay community embraced this album, because they can totally hear that song as applying to them. It's one of the delights of the Beatles; they appeal to everyone!
