Marshall, who would be the guitar player on the very left in this photo?

Todd, I think it's Stu Sutcliffe.  Here are some other photos taken at that gig (The Top Ten Club 1961)

But is drummer really Pete? He looks different. Could be the drummer of Tony's band maybe?

All sitting down like that, it looks like a long night of playing. Think your probably right about the drummer.

Keep that chin up Marshall. It's all adjustment and how you respond. :)

I will have a look in Eric Krasker's book and make a comparison.

Well, these photos were taken at the Top Ten at the spring of 1961. Very interesting shots, showing Tony Sheridan, John, George, Stuart, and Paul sitting at the piano (probably making one of his numerous impersonations of Little Richard!).

The drummer is undoubtedly and indisputably Pete Best (on every photo you can see here). It is true that they sometimes used to play with other musicians (and so drummers), but there is no possible confusion here with another drummer, anyway.

Yes! Remember Paul: "He was mean, moody and magnificent... Pete Best". lol

As demonstrated in my book, his drumming was inadequate for studio recordings, anyway. If Pete had been an excellent drummer and had met the approval of George Martin, that would have been much more complicated for the Beatles to get rid of him.

he was too strong a persona for john and paul to govern.....they needed someone in the back seat not the side car...pete did not seem to me like he was ready to topple the world tho....it seemed he had less enthusiasm than the others....he should have tried over achieving....alot of the bands lacked that....not john and paul tho,to the toppermost of the poppermost....that kind of dedication may make you a bastard tho..not in the fatherless sense either....

From everything I`ve read I believe it was Paul who was mainly against Pete. Then George, who liked Ringo. And John was rather indifferent.

Yes, I think I read that too (so it must be true, right  ha2ha ha2ha ). Pete was apparently the only one between Paul and "cutest boy in the band". Backstabbin' little scouser!

Exactly my thoughts   :-X  And Paul`s father was very much against Pete... Not only my thoughts but facts.
