Some Other Guy
« on: June 03, 2016, 12:53:40 AM »

I've always thought that "Some Other Guy" was one of the best covers by the Beatles, and one of their most energic performances; yet it was never officially released during the 60's and we had to wait until the release of Live At The BBC in 1994 to have it on record. I believe it could have been a second "Twist And Shout".

This famous performance at The Cavern is said to be the first filmation of the Beatles playing after Ringo joined the band:

It was a good one.  The guitar sound on the BBC recordings was really nice and chunky too.

I think after hearing the BBC record there were several covers that could have made it to Beatle records. Soldier of Love etc.

I quite like Anna on PPM. Although I do think it was very similar to Baby It's You so that one or the other should have been ditched for another rocker.

This clip is one of my favorites of the guys. But poor Ringo; "We want Pete!" had to hurt!

It's a great rhythm and blues song which was covered by several Liverpool groups.

We don't often hear the original version written by Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller and Richie Barrett and performed by Richie Barrett in 1962...

I always liked the song too.  I dig Georges guitar on that early Cavern recording.

Yeah, I think "Soldier Of Love" is the other great cover in Live At The BBC.

Yes, at the end of the performance someone shouted "We want Pete!" and apparently John just answered "Yes".
