Des Moines is having a welcome home thing for Shawn Johnson on Tuesday. I'd go but Des Moines is 2 hours away and I start class that day  :( She did great though, winning 1 gold and 3 silver medals!

Depends how you count it :P most people make it so only gold medals count, but anyways I think China is gonna get busted for steroids or something soon because something's not right.

I think the Chinese chickens are coming home to roost ("wha!") regarding allegations that the female gymnasts were underage. Apparently the Chinese have expunged internet-accessible documents, from Chinese websites, that describe the girls as being considerably underage (I think one has to be 16 years old or older in an Olympic year to compete). Unfortunately for the Chinese Sports Authority, these records were captured and stored by interested parties before they were taken down by the government.

More to come, I suspect!

did you all hear that the girl who sang whatever song at the opening (that little Chinese girl) wasn't' the one who could sing. YEAH, she was lip-syncing becuase the girl who COULD sing was to chubby and had bad teeth so they said it was for the better of the country. :'(

There are 1.300.000.000 Chinese people, yet they apparently couldn't find one girl that was pretty and a good singer...?

Goodness. Nearly as bad as the Spanish loading their disabled team with able bodied athletes to ensure a victory.

Didn't Britain have a 14 year old diver? And I think many of the female gymnasts from the old Eastern Block were in their early to mid teens: Olga Korbut, Nadia Komenich.

I had a quick check - the age limit applies to gymnastics only, and has been increasing over the years. Why the authorities feel the need to protect gymnists but not swimmers is beyond me.
