John looks very skinny in some of those pictures , had forgotten how thin he was .

Agree ,needs a few square meals as my mum would say .
I seem to remember he had some issues with his weight in his younger days ?
If i had spent five year as a house husband , i would have been as big as a house lol

John was never what you'd call skinny, even in the early Beatlemania period. Wasn't there a rumour that he was still on smack? It would explain the weight loss.

^^^^ I thought i had read that during the Help period or the last tour , he referred to his weight gain as his fat Elvis period ?
But looking at these pictures he looks well under weight , you could hang your cloths on his collarbones , even with a woolly jumper on you can see he's very thin .
Not heard the smack rumour BlueMeanie , but he did'nt look healthy in some of these photo's .

come on he was getting old...maybe his metabolism was changing...i didn't hear no smack rumours but it is rampant in the big apple...but if he was his eyes would look hollower and his color would be paler...the fact he stayed in bed all day could help skin him down...

^^^^^^He doe'snt look like a smackhead to me , your right his eye's are not sunken pc31 and he has'nt got that oily sweaty glow to his skin which they also have.
It's maybe the times it was'nt cool to be fat , i remember the stick Marc Bolan and Dusty Springfield got for been over weight in the press, and Elvis had become a big joke for his weight before and after his death .
Maybe he just dieted a bit to much before his comeback album ?
Was he a heavy smoker ?

of pot and ganja yes but i do believe he had almost given ciggies up...i think he smoked cigs because he couldn't light up herbs in public...i think all the beatles quit smoking cigs and george was the last one...

^^^^^^ Skunk made me pile the weight on , that and chocolate biscuts lol , since giving up the weed i've lost almost two stone .
Think what he needed was a good cook like Linda looking after him , lot to be said for that healthy veggie lifestyle .

One of the reasons he lost much weight was his being on a diet. He had only rice and diet food like that at the insistance of Yoko. So it was she who was starving John to thinness. It`s Yoko`s fault...as we say.

Ye-e-es. John and Cynthia look much better. Thank you, DaveRam, for the pics to be able to compare. A much healthier pair with Cynthia. The colour, complexion tells a lot about one`s health. Balanced meals, no extremes.
