Every two or three months or so I get Blue Öyster Cult's 'Veteran of the Psychic Wars' stuck between my ears for awhile. That's a real odd one. And yes, the only cure is to play it —the whole album ('Fire of Unknown Origin'), in fact. It's a good one though. Their best, in my opinion.

My daughters left on their week-long school band trip to CA today <sniff>. Tried to download Led Zeppelin's "Going to California" to play this morning on the way to school, but the download got messed up somehow. Oh well. Thought it would be a nice change from "California Dreaming," which we've played every morning for the last week or so.  ;D

I haven't heard a sigh or seen an eye-roll in a couple of days now. Seems strange!   ;)

I remember seeing my then 14 yea old son off for a massive bus ride down to the mountains in Victoria for a school ski trip

I was bereft for a day or two worrying about him, its horrible when your kids go off without you

My middle boy has been going off on long school trips since he was seven. It's such a wrench at first. And a worry knowing they're so far from you.  But it's gratifying when they have a good time doing it and you realise they can operate perfectly well without you around (even if a little melancholy making)

Went with my son for his driving test yesterday. He failed before he even got out of the parking lot.  ha2ha  He pulled behind a bus and just followed it and the bus went through a stop sign in the parking lot that the boy didn't see. We'll try again in a week.

What kind of school did you go to, Dave?  I mean showing kids movies like that.  And kids beating up on others for wearing white socks.  And Magical Mystery Tour vests.   :)

Oh, no, poor guy! My older daughter will be taking her road test soon, now that the ice and snow are mostly gone.

Hope the next time goes better!

At my daughters' high school the police come by each fall and set up a little go-kart course and the kids try to navigate the course while texting, to show them how difficult it is. It's a good idea, but not terribly effective because the kids end up having a blast.

When I was a teen we never saw a movie, but a completely wrecked vehicle would always make the rounds and sit on the grounds of the front of the local skills to visually communicate the devastation drinking and driving could cause.

I remember seeing one I think called Signal 31 when I did drivers ed in high school in the US. I believe Signal 31 is a fatal car crash in the US. It was suitably gross.

There was anothe called Under ride. Where cars would run into the back of trucks and sort of keep going. Decapitation special. Lots of people hearing the news today oh boy.

They never took that approach to driver education in Oz.

I rarely rate my parenting skills. But my 17 year old daughter has got her boyfriend watching Help downstairs. I must have done something right.

Trouble is. I want to join them to watch it. But I somehow suspect that wouldn't be welcome.

The movie was a driver ed. movie that showed real accident scenes to impress on us 16 year olds the consequence's of our mistakes. Very graphic!

Actually, after thinking about it last night, I do remember those films from my high school driver's ed class.

Have to say, though, I'll take one of those graphic movies -- decapitations included -- any day over the childbirth movie they showed in Lamaze class!!  :-X
