You can write her a question and she'll tell you how much it would be.  I'm sure she would make a perfect woman's uniform as she asks for measurements to be included with the order.

I've gotten in touch with your seamstress, and she sent me photographic samples of her ST women's uniforms (TOS, Mirror universe, and TNG). Here's one sample of hers:

Beautiful (although I would most likely get mine in blue)!! I am very impressed. :)

She's a pefectionist when it comes to making Star Trek uniforms.

Lt. Ohura wore the gold command unifom in The Corbomite Maneuver and Mudd's Women.  It was then switched to the red engineering/support uniform.

^ Yes, I have seen Uhura in gold. I must say she looks much better in red, but she looks good regardless!

Here's an TOS original science officer's uniform, Penny Lane.  She's faithful to the original design.

Sometimes, everyday items were used as props...

For example, a Realistic Highball Microphone was used as the White Sound Device/Heartbeat Detector...

and these salt and pepper shakers were used as Dr. McCoy's scalpels...

HG, thanks for the pics. Yes, I would say the seamstress has done a very good job with her TOS uniform. Also, I think the later seasons (season 2 or 3?) also had a more complicated women's dress pattern:

http://z.about.com/d/detroit/1/0/q/7/-/-/Uhura_uniform_communications.JPG (I'm only posting a link because the photo is much too large to put up)

The front seams on this dress are different, but the simpler design the seamstress uses is perfectly fine as well! Both are very attractive.

It's funny that you posted your last pic too (with McCoy operating on Sarek); I was just watching "Journey to Babel" last night! :)

They switched to nylon knit for season 3.  They had to.  The velour uniforms were shrinking each time they were cleaned.  In several first and second season episodes, Dr. McCoy, Spock and especially Kirk are seen pulling their tunics down in several scenes.

Uhura's uniform in the picture you posted looks like it's velour.  Maybe they switched patterns toward the end of the second season or it could probably be an early third season uniform which was not used after the switch to nylon.

The seamstress will make whatever you specify, Penny Lane.

^ Yes, I've heard about the shrinking problems with the velour. I suppose the knit fabric was more practical, but the velour had a nicer look to it.

I've seen online pics of other people in TOS uniforms. Interestingly, I've seen all sorts of materials used--nylon, velvet, wool/felt(?), plain cotton, etc.--but rarely do I see fans in velour! I've heard it's quite hard to work with.

I think the online costume store TOS uniforms are most commonly seen, Penny Lane.  She knows how to work with velour.

There's a hidden zipper in the left shoulder seam and neck band, just as in the original tunic.

^ Cool, nice pic of Spock!

I asked the seamstress about zippers on the female uniform, and she stated that the women's dress doesn't come with a zipper. Apparently the velour is stretchy enough simply to be pulled on. :)

BTW, since you ARE a doctor...

Have you ever administered a "right cross" to a patient?  :o :-[ ha2ha

He was only trying to examine her.  She was an ungrateful humanoid.  Later, she hit him in the head with a rock after he delivered her baby.  A simple "thank you" would have sufficed.

Have I ever administered a right cross to a patient?  No.  But once, when I was a resident, I operated on a convict transferred from a nearby prison.  He was handcuffed to the bed rails in the recovery room.  As I leaned over to examine him, he spit in my face.  The police officer stationed in the recovery room delivered the right cross.

Right, Penny Lane, the woman's uniform doesn't require a zipper unlike the male tunic which has a tight neck band.  I was just trying to demonstrate her skills as a seamstress.  The hidden zipper in the tunic really is a hidden zipper!  It looks like the real seam on the right side.

Oh, that's horrible that something like that happened to you. I'm so sorry!

We had to take the patient back to the OR.

I was watching an episode of the Big Bang Theory last week, and one of the characters mentioned that he and he friends play Klingon Boggle... made me think of this thread :D I wonder if people actually play something like that ;)

^ I've never even heard of Klingon Boggle, hahaha. But if Klingon Hamlet exists (it really does), then I suppose anything is possible!

Of course, you'll never appreciate Shakespeare until you read it in the original Klingon. :D
