What's the best Led Zeppelin song of all time?
« on: August 27, 2006, 04:07:10 PM »

I think In My Time Of Dying is the best Led Zeppelin song of all time, because it's bluesy, ballsy & blistering, even though it's an underrated classic for some reason, despite being better than Whole Lotta Love.  IMTOD is Zeppelin at their finest with great vocals by Plant, great riffing by Page, great bass playing by Jones & great drumming by Bonham, that's almost forgotten by some fans sadly.

coda was bad but not as bad as when they went pop....led zepplin was banned from concerts in florida during their in thru the outdoor tour because they left after two songs when it started raining...i think that they were over played a bit too much...i usually turn the station when they come on...its a knee jerk reaction...not that they are bad but how many times can you listen to them over and over....i have their first album on stereo on the yellow and purple atlantic label...a fine collectors piece...
i had a buddy dave karasic that had an unhealthy love of zepplin in high school...he only had zep 8 tracks in his car and that was all he ever played....that was b4 the song remains the same came out..i was never so happy to hear new zep as back then...

Bluesy, ballsy, and blistering. Where have I heard this before Wayne? Your a broken record. ::)

anyhoo, Traveling Riverside Blues or White Summer gets the nod today.

Could be different tomorrow though.

I might be a broken record, but what else is there to say, it's good.

For starters Wayne, you could quit saying bluesy, ballsy, and blistering with each description of any band you might like. That would help.

Can you think of another description of a certain heavy song that doesn't sound wimpy or cheesy twistandshout?

They didn't have a chance, except for the European dates for the 'In Through the Out Door' tour, they never played in the states on that tour Einstein. Bonham was dead. Favorite song, anything off of the second disc of 'Physical Graffiti'. If I had to narrow it to one, not on the album, is probably 'Dancing Days'. And 'Coda' was a mish mash of stuff in the can. Credibility, PC? Lost.

A few years makes a difference. The Tampa show was in 1977, and 'In Through the out Door' wasn't released until January 1, 1979. A couple of years can make a whole lot of difference in the rock and roll world Daddy-O.

Even though 'Coda' was a thrown together album, its still twice as good as 'Presence' in my opinion.

I think In Through The Outdoor is a great rock album by Zeppelin, despite being their most commercial, with In The Evening, Fool In The Rain & All My Love being my favorite tracks.

I love 'Coda'. Even though its a 'pickup' album, there's some great stuff on there.

I'm going against the grain and agreeing with Wayne. I like 'In Through Tghe Out Door' too. 'In The Evening' and 'Carasalambra' are awesome tunes. I like 'Coda' also.
