25th anniversary plans
« on: August 16, 2005, 09:00:45 AM »

Hello. I'm planning to go to New York for the first time this December :). It also coincides with the 25th anniversary of John's passing . :'( I'm sure that the date will not go unmissed and that there will be some event to commemerate it, but does anybody have any knowledge of any events to be held in New York over that week...

Cheers in advance!

An anniversary is a date that ANYTHING happened. Good or bad. I may make my annual trek to NY for that, but I have a feeling it will be more of a freak show than actual genuine respect. I don't know, just a vibe, and I'm sure there will be a ton of opportunists capitalizing on the event.

I'm going to try to get into the city as well. I live about 30 minutes away (by train) so I hope to get there. I've always wanted to go, just to be with other Lennon fans. I've visited Strawberry Fields so many times! :D

I spent the better part of an evening last week making travel plans to fly to NYC on the 8th and return the 11th, and that weekend is booked solid out there. Its either that or pay a fortune for hotel. Its expensive during the off season, but during the holidays, its ridiculous. The following weekend isn't quite as bad, but I thought I'd like to pay my genuine respects. I've got a feeling that there will be more scavengers out there than real fans. It was worth a shot, but I'm bummed.
