Yoko Ono Donates Art to Reykjavik
« on: February 27, 2006, 03:14:27 PM »

Quote
Yoko Ono, widow of John Lennon, will arrive in Reykjavik on the 25th February for Reykjavik's Winter Lights Festival to discuss a peace column, an art work that she is presenting to Reykjavik.

The column, about 30 meters long, is an illuminated column of glass, full of wishes of peace from people all over the world.  On the outside there are two engraved lines of poetry. One of the passages, "A dread you dream together is reality", is written by Yoko Ono herself, the other, "Imagine all the people, living life in peace" is from John Lennon's song Imagine. The passages will be translated into numerous languages.

It is reported that Yoko's work has recently been researched from an engineering perspective with special consideration to the Icelandic climate.

According to news station NFS, Yoko fell in love with Iceland when she visited 14 years ago and showed her work at art museum Kjarvalsstadir. Her wish is that the column be erected in the country that is on the top of the world in the North between America and Europe.

That was funny, but I missed the translation underlines.
