From Awesome to Strange: Beatles Auction Items [Photos]
A previously unseen photograph of the first US performance of The Beatles at the Washington Coliseum in 1964.

A Christie’s auction house employee holds a previously unseen photograph of the first US performance of The Beatles at the Washington Coliseum in 1964 during the press view of the forthcoming sale of ‘The Beatles Illuminated: The Discovered Works of Mike Mitchell’ in central London, on June 10, 2011. The photograph is expected to fetch between GBP 1,200-1,800 (dollars 2,000-3,000 or euros 1,370-2,050 ) when it is auctioned in New York on July 20, 2011. AFP PHOTO / CARL COURT (Photo credit should read CARL COURT/AFP/Getty Images)As arguably the most influential and popular band to grace our ears over the past half century, The Beatles are sure to have had some interesting items up for auction. From rare finds like a lyrics sheet for their song “Hey Jude” (in Paul McCartney‘s handwriting!), to wacky tie hangers (wacky, but practical for today’s businessman), many items have been up for bid for a pretty penny or two… or three… or thousand(s).CLICK through the gallery to see many of the amazing/crazy items that have been put up for auction!
