Because they don't think properly. If they had experienced what socialism is in reality, if they'd know what dictatorship is and had been under terror, they'd think twice... Maybe it seems to be a cool thing but it is NOT! It might be different in a country that has never suffered from that or hasnt even been in real war for centuries, but in eastern Europe it was a real threat for decades. I'm strongly against it.

I think DM's has such a good balance of young and old fans - all converging without an ounce of discrimination. (well - most of the time anyhow)

That's exactly what people need to hear. They just don't get it. It's easy to proclaim yourself a socialist or communist from the comfort of your nice big house surrounded by your Ipods and computers and cell phones. I mean, give me a break.

I don't care if you disagree with me, but I know it's the truth & some of you don't won't to admit it.  I'm not expecting that many young people of today to be listening to the Beatles, because it's a rarity & it's like listening to their parents or grandparent's music.  I have been called every name in the book on this forum, as well as being humorously intimidated(for what I don't know), so I expect it as usual, especially on this topic.  There is probably about 10 out of 50 young people today who like the Beatles & 60's/70's rock in general.  I know some of you will dispute it, but you're not going to change my mind & if you're around 12-20 years of age, the closest you get to the Fab4 is possibly the Anthology, but more than likely the 1 album.

i agree with the point you made about 10 out of 50 people like the beatles and classic rock, however as being one of the younger generation who likes the beatles, i'm bound to disagree a bit.

The only thing we can do is to indoctrinate our young ones.   I play Beatles around my kids all the time.

My three year old's first Beatles song?

"Don't Pass Me By"

I overheard him singing the chorus one day in the playroom by himself.

You rock, Ringo!

The sadest example of your post is a "young" girl I was talking to was not aware that "Paul" was in a group called the "BEATLES" are you kidding me? Unfortunatley not!

I sat next to a 17 year old girl at Ringo's concert who was in love with The Beatles.
When I told my mother (age 69) I was going to the concert, she said,  "I thought he was dead."

I cannot argue this point globally, but up here in the North East of England, every club I go to at least plays one Beatles song...and it always gets a crazy response. I suppose many young people don't listen to the Beatles like many 'DM's' do .... i.e religiously - but they are still very much on the radar and always being discussed whether it be TV, Radio, Internet or Literary sources.

I suppose it's what there exposed to. For Adam's kid to dig 'Don't Pass Me By' is very cool. I have a friend who almost has a 6 year old that has most of the dialogue to the Yellow Sub movie memorized. It's priceless

That's unreasonable. Blaming the young people of today for not liking music from the 60s is the same thing as blaming the young people of the 60s for not liking music from the 20s.

And 40 years from now, the music of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears will be the nostalgic oldies that the people that are young then won't understand. It all keeps on going.

I disagree; I truly think mainstream music right now is extremely unimpressive.

Oh, and by the way, this is this week's Top Artists Top 10 of LastFM (some sort of online radio station thing that keeps track of the music their users listen to on their computer):

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers
2. Radiohead
3. The Beatles
4. Coldplay
5. Muse
6. Death Cab For Cutie
7. Green Day
8. Nirvana
9. System Of A Down
10. Pink Floyd

This proves that there still are lots of young people listening to the Beatles. I think it's actually pretty amazing since it's already 37 years ago that they called it quits.

Nice find.  On other music boards I go to, such as ones on IGN, TONS listen to the Beatles, and I've noticed that when I was in high school and now in college.  Young people that are into music listen to more than you think, and many know quite a deal about the older bands (The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zep, The Doors, etc.).  I'm very close friends with several that go to UF, one in particular whom I always converse with about all kinds of bands.  It's awesome!

ATTN Wayne: Young people of today don't prefer the internet; they prefer to listen to music while on the internet, like I am right now.  We multi-task  ;)

You can listen on the internet all you want to, just like I do as well, but that still doesn't mean the young people of today dig the Beatles.
