I hear a lot of Dutch people complaining about the referee, but I don't believe he was against us. He could've send off a couple more Dutch players (De Jong clearly should've gotten a straight red card and several players were trying hard to get a second yellow card) and nobody could've complained.

Of course. The team played way too aggresive. On the other hand the referee made some strange decisions. It's crazy that Heitinga is now described in the English press as 'gangster'. The first card was hardly a faul. The second was tho.

It would be understandable if they would write that about Van Bommel and De Jong (and I guess they probably do), but Heitinga is a respectable player.

I'm afraid I'd choke. But admitted, Spain was the better team in the final. We didn't know how the beat the Spanish tici-taca and were lucky that the Spanish tactics doesn't bring them many goals. Both teams had their chances.

Between 250.000 and 750.000 people are currently in Amsterdam to honor the national team. And that's during work hours on a Tuesday. Imagine how big this would've been if we would've won...

Probably not much different, Joost.  Your team played hard and well.  The Netherlands will express their sincere thanks.

They're now saying there were 600.000 to 700.000 people. I bet it would've been at least twice as much if we would've won the tournament.

Funny to mention that John Heitinga (who was sent off in the final) is getting married today. In Ibiza.
