Cool. Already I’m sure it will rank at least 2nd of the Paul eponymous series.

Always thought he'd complete the trilogy One Of These Days and I'm certainly looking forward to this - it's only four decades late!
Nobody Knows what it will include, but it should be interesting to hear what he's been Coming Up with during lockdown. Maybe we'll be Amazed. You never know, it might propel him back up to the top of the album charts - now That Would Be Something, wouldn't it?

They other three have asked McCartney to push his solo effort back, so as not to coincide with the release of the 50th Anniversary edition of Let it Be.

Yes I think they're sending Ringo around to his house. ;D

Well. It’s out. Will look forward to people’s impressions. Had a quick skim and my first reaction is I’m liking the sound of the album. Production seems really good. But haven’t heard enough to form any impression of the songs themselves yet.

Me too. When the drums kick in it sounds like Paul doing Ringo. It does go on a little long. Could have cut a minute.

The last track is great. When Winter Comes. Classic Paul acoustic. This album is showing some real potential. Might take a while to get right into it though.

All the songs seem to be on YouTube I listened to them yesterday and agree that this is the best track, it's very vintage McCartney could have been on McCartney one.
I just feel very curious about how he got his voice to sound young again.
Overall though sorry Paul,  I'm not that keen on the other tracks, some sound a bit too simplistic and not enough melody.

I don't think there are any hit singles on it but first time through it, I enjoyed many of the songs.  I wasn't listening to listen, had it on in the background while doing some other things and found I enjoyed a few of them for the beat and tempo.

I think i read somewhere one song was possibly recorded many years ago (and finished this year?) so his voice was younger/better.

Lots of solo guitar playing on Winter Bird.  Sounds acoustic, too.

The drums on Winter Bird sound like he was playing on trash cans.

I just got done listening to the entire album.  Nothing grabbed me.  It sounded like all the songs were the same.  There didn't seem to be any melodies.  Nothing that made me want to hum or sing along to it.  Sorry.  I felt this way about Egypt Station, too.  I tried several listens but still nothing.  I will listen to this again and hope.  I don't like being negative.  A lot of the reviews I've read online are very positive, however.

It's Winter Bird/When Winter Comes, Kev.  Does this video play down there...

Sounds like Paul recorded those vocals around the time he recorded Calico Skies...

Ok I've listened a few times now but I just don't rate it.
I sure want to as I really like Paul.
Songs sound inferior, is this really the same Paul who wrote some of the best songs ever ?

Just ordered it last night.  Been reading that its awfully boring.  Still havent heard even a snippet from it so i'll be going in totally blind.

While I think there are some fine moments on it, I doubt that I would listen again very often. But that's OK. My attitude is that I'm grateful he's still at it. Even with the weaker voice and debatably less inspired songwriting, he's still giving of himself. For the fans mostly, I believe. I'm also certain that he enjoys still being in the limelight. So it's good for everyone. I hope he keeps recording and performing live as long as he can. The world is a bit better off with it.

 :)

listening now, in the background while I do other things on the computer.

Maybe no singles on it but I like the mostly instrumental Long Tailed Winter Bird and Find my Way.

Lavatory Lil is a quick upbeat song

Deep Deep Feeling - not my cup of tea

Slidin' - like the opening riff/melody, think he is overusing the multi-tracking of his voice on this one, vocals on this hold it back, has a nice groove to it

Seize the Day - nice traditional song (traditional later in career), nice melody and lyrically ok

Deep Down - good groove, enjoyed the 2nd half of it

Winter Bird/When Winter Comes - reprise of the best melody/musical part of the album IMO then jumps into When Winter Comes,ok

All in all, good background music, not any singles that I can hear, without help, without outside influences, good enough to listen to but not great

I think Seize The Day is the strongest contender for a single.

Finally got around to listening to this after its been sitting on the stand for a couple weeks.  I like it.  Not bad.  Going to take repeated listens, but not to shabby.

I’ve listened a few times now. There’s some decent tracks on it. I like the opening four tracks even if the first instrumental goes on a bit long. Kiss of Venus and When Winter Comes are nice acoustic tunes. Could live without Deep Deep Feeling and Slidin’.

All and all a pretty good effort that keeps growing on me. Definitely in the top two eponymous Macca albums.

This isnt aging well with me, but i'm not giving up.  I will force myself to listen to it at least 10 more times.  If nothing clicks, off to the dust bin it goes.

I watched a youtube vid from a Beatles fan.
He was kinda saying that McCartney III was a marketing excercise to get a No 1 album. I didnt realize it was availabe in 11 different coloured vinyl, they also have different coloured dice on the cover, as well as CD of course.
There are many audiophiles out there and completists who will buy the lot.....seriously, Im on a forum where they hang out. And of course an artists doesnt need the physical sales anymore that they once did to reach No 1.

What are your thoughts ?

Here is the vid.

It’s certainly a strategy to increase sales. Also the different with additional songs. He did similarly with Egypt Station. The strategy seems to work as it’s given him two chart topping albums ( in different countries)  in a row. I’m not sure what the number is but if you get a few tens of thousands of physical sales quickly in the US you’re a good chance to get to Number 1. But for acts like Paul he tends to drop quickly as the ongoing sales don’t keep up.

Yeah, when I was ordering it, I saw there were different versions with the different colored dice.  I got the original with the white dice and thats all I need.

Check out these different versions -

Imagined Limited Variant Cover (white drawn 3 dimensional dice)
Limited Edition Target Exclusive (green dice)
Box Set with yellow ornament
Japan Special Edition (red dice)
Secret Demo (blue dice)
Secret Demo (yellow dice)

etc,,,,,its silly
