Hi there!
I was just wondering what John's very last recorded song was, when it was recorded etc...
Any info welcome. Thankyou.
-
Do you mean as a home demo tape or a studio track?
-
Well either or both. I was just wondering. ;-D

i think it was grow old along with me?
either that or parts of yokos walking on thin ice, which he overdubed on 8/12/80

From Keith Badman's book:
Friday November 14 [1980]:
At his Dakota apartment, John records, on his final home taping session, demos of 'Pop Is The Name Of The Game', 'You Saved My Soul (With Your True Love)', and a final version of 'Serve Yourself'.

Why do you ask me? I haven't got everything you know...

I thought it was a home demo of "Gone From this Place" from 11/80. I'll have to check.
-
I always thought it was "Help Me To Help Myself". But thought I'd check.

John Lennon
You Saved My Soul is most likely John Lennon's last home recording to surface. Taken from a tape dated November 14, 1980, this electric guitar based demo is an excerpt of a longer "stream of conciousness" composing sequence which, among the false starts, also includes the well known Serve Yourself and interuptig vocalization Pop Is The Name Of The Game.
I checked Bootlegzone because I remember having seen this description. It's on the 'Free As A Bird--Dakota Demos' bootleg, and a couple others. Don't know if this is the definitive last song but if not, it's pretty close.
