This round is the toughest for me so far. Revolver is an album in which every track is fine. However... I will narrow it down:
1. For no one
2. And your bird can sing
3. Taxman
worst: Got to get you into my life
-
1. For No One
2.Here There and Everywhere
3.Eleanor Rigby

Oooh... Paul all the way (apart from the worst)!

Despite the shameless plagerism of this games rules, its ammendments and its useless facts footnote from beatlesboards.com, without the consideration of a credit
1. For no One

3. And your bird Can sing
worst Yellow Submarine

Tony, you were credited a few times. But it's been going a while now. I thank you for your inspiration, and the fact that I couldn't think of a better name is a compliment to you!
Btw, I believe we're doing our second phase differently!

So you have a patent or a copyright for this game? Kind of silly to get so bent out of shape about a stupid thing like that.
Anyways,,,,
1. Eleanor Rigby
2. Got To Get You Into My Life
3. For No One
Worst song and only tune keeping the album from being perfect - Love You To
-

I don't think Tony was being that serious. :)
-
I'm Only Sleeping
For No One
Tomorrow Never Knows
Love You To (still a good song though, don't get me wrong)

They're probably a bit buried by now. And the useless facts sometimes produce more comments than the votes!
-
1. I'm Only Sleeping
2. Dr. Robert
3. And Your Bird Can Sing
Worst: Tough decision, but it goes to Got To Get You Into My Life.
I really think this album would have achieved even greater greatness with the addition of Paperback Writer, and Rain, and the omission of Yellow Submarine, and Got To Get You Into My Life.
Blimey, I'm the first person to vote for Dr. Robert!
-
LOL! Them's fighting words!
1. Love You To
I bet you did that just to tease me! ;D
-
I bet you did that just to tease me! ;D
While deliberately annoying you would indeed be a worthy goal ;), the fact is, I love that song! Come on, it has this great lyric: Make love all day long/Make love singing songs.
Excuse me? You can resist that? ;D I can't. It goes in the player and I dance around to it and then I play it again. I know some people dislike the Indian sounds. Some of the Indian-influenced compositions aren't my favorite either (such as "Tomorrow never knows"), but this one certainly hits the spot for me. One in the gold from George for me. Cheers.

This is my favourite George/Indian song! But I wonder why it's not 'Love You Too.'
-
This is my favourite George/Indian song! But I wonder why it's not 'Love You Too.'
Oh, I agree. It is my favourite Indian song as well. Imagine how I feel about the other ones! ;D
-
I've also always wondered why it's not Love You Too instead of Love You To.
-
Oh wow :B
I've always read it as "Love To You".
You learn something new everyday. :B
-
It appears I have missed 6 albums already, better late than never.
1. Dr. Robert
2. Tomorrow Never Knows
3. Here, There & Everywhere
Worst is Yellow Submarine
-

Where you been? :P
-

Ah, Love You To is much more imaginative. George expected us to "fill in" what he wanted the person he was singing about to do.

Is "A Collection Of Oldies" next?
-
Andwhat shall we do about MMT and YS. Combine the original tracks into one LP? And The White Album? Split it into two?
And the singles/b sides. Will Rain get a look in?
So many questions (I have a job interview at 2.30 and I'm FREAKING OUT.)
-
Is "A Collection Of Oldies" next?
No. It'll all be covered on Past Masters.
Btw, I was wondering what to do about Let It Be, Get Back, and Across The Universe? They are all on Past Masters Vol. 2 in a slightly different guise, so I was planning on leaving them out of the vote for that album. Any thoughts?

MMT and Yellow Sub will be combined. All the songs from the original UK release of Yellow Sub, plus the 6 songs from MMT double EP. With the addition of Hello Goodbye. Rain is on Past Masters. Everything will be covered.
The White album will be covered by 2 separate votes in the same week. One for each disc.
The list is here: http://www.dmbeatles.com/forums/b-games/m-1185686493/
If anyone can see a gaping whole let me know.

We're doing Let it be at the moment and as the track listing is almost the same, i plumped for a combined vote where members just vote on the basis of the song rathe rthan the version. So if they love long and Winding road on naked but hate the spector version, they will vote for it because they just like the song without being specific about the version.
hope that helps.... no? didnt think so

Cheers Tony. I noticed that. I wasn't planning on doing 'Naked'. Btw, how are you doing your second phase? I was thinking that I'll take the 45 top scoring songs, plus the 3 highest scoring near misses, and seed them by the percentage of votes acumulated. And then have 4 groups of 12 to vote on.
-
bump

She said she said
Got to get you into my life
Eleanor rigby
worst Love you to
-
In order:
Tomorrow Never Knows
Doctor Robert

Just do singles that were not album releases separatley from 1962-1966 and 1967-1970. Two seperate votes to determine the singles or combine them if you wish.

This is covered by doing Past Masters!

1. 'I'm Only Sleeping'
2. 'Taxman'
3. 'She Said She Said'
W: 'Dr. Robert' (barely beating out 'Eleanor Rigby', which is a fine song, really, but too much of a downer for me)
8)

This has been the biggest vote so far, and there's still 2 days left! It's tight at the top, with 2 songs tied for 1st place, and only 2 points separating 3rd, 4th, and 5th. So one voter can change it. Get voting if you haven't already. Voting closes at 12 noon GMT on Sunday.
-

Ooh so its a bit like the world cup then ;D
We're just goint to do a straight knock out for the second phase. Song v song if you like. The songs that are through will be allocated numbers and another member will give me random numbers via msn that correspond to each song (again like a football cup draw). then members will vote for 4 or maybe 6 matches at a time. We're doing the Anths and Love so not sure how many songs will make it through in total but will be using the highest 4th places to make the numbers even for a knockout.

You're doing Anthology as well? Blimey, we'll be finished before you! I think I'll stick to only officially released songs up to 1970.
I think the way I'm doing it is a bit more like tennis. Where the 1st seed gets to play the 32nd, or whatever. Except that I'm putting them into album sized groups of 12.
-
Oh i like the seeding idea, thats a great way of keeping the best songs apart. Actually ive nicked your percentage idea for the best placed runners up idea and given you a mention
Yeah i wanted to keep it to the pre 1970 stuff but popular demand wanted the anths and love included. The compromise being that only the unreleased songs will be included not the outtakes or demos. so stuff like not guilty and free as a bird etc. I suppose it will be interesting to see if any of that unrealeased stuff can beat any of the official stuff in a head to head.
and wow just noticed your sig. thats really great thanks. could i trouble you to mail it to me please? thanks
-
^ It is a great pic sig- especially the copyright (thumbsup)

No probs. Cheers!
I'm thinking about the Anthology stuff now. Stuff like 'In Spite Of All The Danger', and 'If You've Got Trouble' should be in there. I think I'll pass on 'Love' though.
EDIT: Now I'm beginning to have doubts. Songs like 'In Spite Of All The Danger' aren't really Beatles songs are they. What does everyone think?
-
1. Taxman
2. Tomorrow Never Knows
3. For No One

Didn't realise that you hadn't voted.

I found it quite easy really. You wait until we get to Past Masters!
Btw, it looks like we're heading for our first tie-break, unless someone else votes. Oh the excitement ;)
-

I think we should stick to the official releases, or we'll be here forever. And if The Beatles didn't think suitable for release....
-

Hey, this is my game! My idea! I want full credit. *crosses out the copyright notice on my monitor screen in crayon*
EDIT: Now I'm beginning to have doubts. Songs like 'In Spite Of All The Danger' aren't really Beatles songs are they. What does everyone think?
Tough, tough, tough call. I'm enjoying the game, but I do sense a great murky area. I love some of the rearrangements on Love, and some of the unreleased Beatles tunes are just plain fun. How about, after the official Song Survivor game completes, we have a Song Imposter runoff, or a Not Ready For Prime Time Beatles game or something, so people can vote on their favorite unreleased or alternative tracks?
Had to really struggle with that one.
Well, about time I had company! I agonize over every single one! *does ritual hand slap * tries to peek at your notes*

Thanks for the sig paul received ok.

Worst
Yellow Submanie

No, and not very inspiring either. I may drop the idea before the opening on the can of worms gets bigger!
-
1) Love You To
2) I'm Only Sleeping
3) Got to Get You Into My Life
This was really hard because it's my favourite album. I love all the songs.
Least favourite:
Dr Robert

With only 5 points separating 1st and 5th this is a close race. There's only one hour left, so anyone who wants to vote should do it now!
