The two Beatles songs that have always gone down well at parties i have had are " I Saw Her Standing There " and surprisingly " Yellow Submarine " , which Beatles songs have you put on to get the party going ? :)
-
Good post Dave. I think we go to different types of parties. Yellow Submarine....?
I find The Beatles too slow to dance to.

When everybody is drunk Yellow Submarine as gone down well at my parties , remember one New Year's party i had back end of the 80's and that was playing this rather large women draged me to the floor and sat on me , she began to contucted the room in a sing song bouncing up and down on my chest , boy was i pleased it's a short song :D ;D

lol yeah i think the beatles aint youre typical party band.
i have had get togethers and played the beatles in which case i just played full albums in the background while we drink and play xbox or chat.
but saw her standing there is definitly the one i think that would be the best to dance too with all its energy, followed by songs like paperback writer, lady madonna, hey bulldog.....
-
Hey, even The Beatles danced to their own songs:

I'm with Kevin on this one. Dave, you're going to the wrong parties mate!!
-
I used to have a gig in a club in Amsterdam once in a while. They always played Twist And Shout there and it was a great success!

The parties i go to are very wrong your right there ,not the the type you can take your policeman brother to , you won't find many nibbles on the coffee table at these parties or stuff you can buy at ASDA ;D
I was talking more traditional family type parties where i think you can throw in a Beatles song ?
-
" Love Me Do " is ok for a party song ?

Twist And Shout is a good one
-
Songs I've used for a party (mind you, this was a Beatles themed birthday bash):
"I Want To Hold Your Hand"
"She Loves You"
"Twist and Shout" (cover)
"And I Saw Her Standing There"
"I'm Happy Just To Dance With You"
"Rollover Beethoven" (cover)
-
Parties I've been to have played
I Saw Her Standing There
Hey Bulldog
Lady Madonna
-
'All Together Now' is a favorite when i'm p*ss drunk.
-
Revolution 9!! ;P JK
I'd say number one would be Get Back or I wanna be your man

I pretty sure All Together Now originated from a drinking game anyways :P
-
"She Loves You" and "Twist and Shout" are always good ones! :D
-
Last party I went to I want to hold your hand, twist and shout and love me do were played, they went down well amidst all the rap and hip hop music that was continuously played throughout the night.
-
Did you know that the Mersey groups each had their own 'fight' songs? This occurred whenever there was a big 'barney' in a hall. The group on stage would then play their 'fight song.' The Beatles 'fight song' was 'Hully Gully.'

So the band really did play on! Do you know any of the others Bill?
-
I did know the other fight songs of different groups, but I've forgotten. However, I can do a little research and ask them.
-
i think the swinging blues jeans used hippy hippy shake for theirs....i know there were others but i can't find the post for it...so many things are repeated here that if it doesn't pop up more than once it doesn't get discussed......
-
I think that I want to Hold your Hand, Twist and Shout, I Saw her Standing There, Lady Madonna, Hey Bulldog, Shout, Can't Buy Me Love, Day Tripper, and I Wanna be Your Man are good ones.
-
Imagine you're throwing a party for your friends and you wanted to create a Beatles party mix CD. Which fun, fairly upbeat songs would you choose?
-
Helter Skelter, Strawberry Fields Forever, or Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Always gets my friends and I going :)
-
Get Back, Hold Me Tight, The Night Before, You're Gonna Lose That Girl, Fixing A Hole (If you have a top hat and a large, fluffy feather.), and... there are a lot more, but I'm too lazy to type.
-
I Saw Her Standing There, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Should Have Known Better, Lady Madonna, Hey Bulldog, and maybe Helter Skelter.
-
I Saw Her Standing There, I Should Have Known Better, Twist And Shout, Hold Me Tight, Tell Me Why, Cant Buy Me Love, Day Tripper, Eight Days A Week, Get Back, I Wanna Be Your Man, The Night Before, Love Me Do, probably more.
-
Forgetting Octopus's Garden are we? :3... Others: Hey Jude, Lucy, She Loves You, All My Loving, Eight Days A Week,
-
Twist And Shout always works.

Good grief, I'm having some poor luck with repeating threads lately (and yes, I do search back a couple of pages to see if there are any duplicates). Sorry, moderators!! I didn't mean to create extra work for you. :-/

We did a Beatles Party CD for our last new year's party (and we'll use it this year too!). It has a mixture of early Beatles as well as some of the number ones and some slow music. Works well :)

Please tell us what songs you have on your party CD!

Do you all think that "Birthday" and "Back in the USSR" would be good songs to dance to, or have at a party?
And maybe slow dancing songs "If I Fell", "And I Love Her"?
-
Depends on the crowd but I say Twist and Shout, Paperback Writer, Octopus's Garden, and Birthday.
-
Twist and Shout has gone over really, really well at the parties I've been to. Back In the USSR is a good one, too.
-
^Long Tall Sally too and Rock n Roll Music
-
I'll say we had quite a lot of fun on New Years singing and dancing to Oh! Darling and Helter Skelter :)

2 fave upbeat moments in our set for sure.....well..Twist & Shout for the crowd and Back In The USSR for the band and the crowd. lol

Yes It Is! lol
The night has to be broken up with some slower paced. Those 2 and Something are our fave slow love ones to do.
Still trying to nail singing and playing the right bass on Oh Darling but I couldn't resist singing it on holiday at a karaoke recently. lol
-
what about for the party animals??????we want to hear why don't we do it in the road and i want you....when i was a kid it was earlier beatles but later on my party ideals changed....soda became beer, food became finger food(carrots, celery, pickles, chips, squash and other things.....see what i'm saying?
-
I'd call them tunes raunchy rockers. One day we'll get em in the set. In a team, you can only work as fast as the slowest man. lol
I'd love to hear Gotta Get You Into My Life in that set too.
-
yeah...i hear you on that team thing...raunch and roll has it merits.... :)
-
I have done some dj'ing in the past and off the top of my head, here are a few that always get dancers out:
A Hard Day's Night
Day Tripper
Drive My Car
The Word
Paperback Writer
Got To Get You Into My Life
Sgt. Pepper Reprise (particularly from Anthology 2)
Hey Bulldog
Revolution
-
Twist and Shout and Rock'n'Roll Music...............always good jammers...........plus, my personal favorite, Back in the USSR. It rocks!!!! Oh...........and Birthday.............
