Good post Dave. I think we go to different types of parties. Yellow Submarine....?
I find The Beatles too slow to dance to.

lol yeah i think the beatles aint youre typical party band.

i have had get togethers and played the beatles in which case i just played full albums in the background while we drink and play xbox or chat.

but saw her standing there is definitly the one i think that would be the best to dance too with all its energy, followed by songs like paperback writer, lady madonna, hey bulldog.....

Hey, even The Beatles danced to their own songs:

I used to have a gig in a club in Amsterdam once in a while. They always played Twist And Shout there and it was a great success!

The parties i go to are very wrong your right there ,not the the type you can take your policeman brother to , you won't find many nibbles on the coffee table at these parties or stuff you can buy at ASDA   ;D
I was talking more  traditional family type parties where i think you can throw in a Beatles song ?

Songs I've used for a party (mind you, this was a Beatles themed birthday bash):

"I Want To Hold Your Hand"
"She Loves You"
"Twist and Shout" (cover)
"And I Saw Her Standing There"
"I'm Happy Just To Dance With You"
"Rollover Beethoven" (cover)

Did you know that the Mersey groups each had their own 'fight' songs? This occurred whenever there was a big 'barney' in a hall. The group on stage would then play their 'fight song.' The Beatles 'fight song' was 'Hully Gully.'

So the band really did play on! Do you know any of the others Bill?

I did know the other fight songs of different groups, but I've forgotten. However, I can do a little research and ask them.

Imagine you're throwing a party for your friends and you wanted to create a Beatles party mix CD.  Which fun, fairly upbeat songs would you choose?

Good grief, I'm having some poor luck with repeating threads lately (and yes, I do search back a couple of pages to see if there are any duplicates).  Sorry, moderators!!  I didn't mean to create extra work for you.   :-/

We did a Beatles Party CD for our last new year's party (and we'll use it this year too!). It has a mixture of early Beatles as well as some of the number ones and some slow music. Works well  :)

Do you all think that "Birthday" and "Back in the USSR" would be good songs to dance to, or have at a party?

And maybe slow dancing songs "If I Fell", "And I Love Her"?

Yes It Is! lol

The night has to be broken up with some slower paced. Those 2 and Something are our fave slow love ones to do.

Still trying to nail singing and playing the right bass on Oh Darling but I couldn't resist singing it on holiday at a karaoke recently. lol

I'd call them tunes raunchy rockers. One day we'll get em in the set. In a team, you can only work as fast as the slowest man. lol

I'd love to hear Gotta Get You Into My Life in that set too.
