Does anyone like those screams that the boys do, generally just before a guitar solo, c. 1962-65? Those screams are just one of the many things I love about the Beatles.
I was listening to "Slow Down", and John has some really great ones there, but the one just before George's guitar solo ranks as one of the best ever on a Beatles record IMO.
I also like the scream by Paul on "Can't Buy Me Love". Also at the beginning of the electric version of "Revolution".
Does anyone else like those screams :)? Any other good ones that come to mind?
Thanks :)
I like their shouting on "Twist & Shout" lol
(of course)
That makes the song well...what it is! hah
And, ummmm...i dont think you could call it "screaming", but i love the way Paul carries his voice on "Hey Jude". Towards the end, he seems to just drift away in his song.
(Another great sign of a pure, brilliant artist)
Listen to it, and see if you get what i am talking about. :)
And, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE.
hah
I like Paul singing Helter Skelter & Oh Darling. He gets real loud in those ones.
Oh wow, I guess I forgot about those!
There's this awesome scream in the song I Want You (She's So Heavy).
I Want You (She's So Heavy) is my favorite song of the moment.

I love that part. Very cool and way ahead of its time.
I like the trippy scream in A Day in the Life done by Paul.

Do you mean the aahhhs? Cuz if so, have I got a thread for you!
yes!

In that case!
http://dmbeatles.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-songs/m-1108843947/s-0/And that's just one of about ten threads addressing said aahhhs! It's quite a legend around here. ;D
I always liked Pauls screaming at the end of 'Hey Jude'.
Also, Johns on 'Hey Bulldog' (Cripes I think it was John)
The Scream on "I Saw Her Standing There " from Paul i think it is ? , is pretty cool .
(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)(scream1)
I'm Down :P
The change in tonality of Paul's voice, constrained or boarderline scream, in an otherwise mellow "Golden Slumbers"
Smiles awake you when you rise"
true true
There are pretty awesome screams in I've Got A Feeling.
Lucy in the Sky has some minor screaming at the end chorus

I forgot about that one, Bingo!
Paul's voice is wonderful!!!!
I love all of their voices actually....haha
Paul has the best scream though
lol yeah, I'd say you were right on that one.
I'd say I was right to.
then I would say John. or Ringo
Yeah, George has that soft, surreal type of voice.
Very meaningful and constructed.
very conserved
oh yes.
conserved, yes indeed.
I think my favorite screams are in the Oh Darling takes!
Never listened to it?!?!
I'll have to check up on that. ??)
It's really funny. Paul yodels and screams and takes like an American ;D
lol "YODELS" like a turkey??
Whooaaa.
thats got to be a scary thing.
haha
now im defiantly listening to it.
he yodels like a yodeler... :P
hahhahahaahhahahahahahahahahha
nothing like a turkey boy.
There are awesome screams in Slow Down and Bad Boy.

"yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!" 8)
I get lost in that song...I love it!
cry for a shadow
Paul is a great screamer, but I don't think he beats Lennon:
Anna (Go To Him)
Baby Its You
Twist and Shout
Mr. Moonlight
Please Mister Postman
Help!
Yer Blues
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me and My Monkey
Hey Bulldog
Don't Let Me Down
Paul does have some good screaming parts too:
I'm Looking Through You
Hey Jude
Helter Skelter
I've Got a Feeling
Oh Darling
Probably missing a lot, but those are a few good examples.
It's hard to compare the two since they are different, but I think they each do a good job on which part they scream on. I just prefer John's screaming. I think his gritty voice is more suited towards it.
Oh, how I love Lennon in Baby It`s You!
hey bulldog, everybodys got something to hide except me and my monkey, dizzy miss lizzy
Though I'm a JL fan, I've always felt Paul had one of the better rock n roll screams around.

What I'm always blown away by is that these two guys who had the best vocal harmonies this side of the Everly Brothers even did their screaming in harmony! John had this sandpaper one and then Paul had this other one about 3 notes higher. I can't think of any songs where they scream in unison, but when they do, listen, it's harmony not unison! Pure genius!

I think the opening screams on Revolution signify that the above statement is on point 8)
Long Tall Sally
Oh! Darling
Twist and Shout (Paul and John...this song is insane)
I Saw Her Standing Here
I Wanna Be Your Man (Paul's howl)
Helter Skelter
Revolution
Paul's my favorite screamer, though. 8)
"Twist & Shout" and the Love Album's new version of "Hey Jude".
Pauls got a little seductive ohh's and ahh's going on in there. lol
But hey, that's just me.
When he gets to singing.."Hey Juddeee-ee-ee-ooh-eeee..."
My (heart2)! goes "WHOOP!"
and:
I'll have to give notice to George's sexy yearning noices at the end of "WMGGW's".
Always thought that was sexy to :)

Agree with all of these, but I gotta add Hey Jude and I'm Down (this and Long Tall Sally are probably my favorite songs vocal wise, ever!)

I WANT YOU!
Not exactly screaming (but close); the long, mysterious, high-pitched "AAAAAHHHH's" that close-out 'Long, Long, Long' -great track :)
Steve.
There`s a girl who was the first to scream to the Beatles. She has been identified and there are pictures of her young and not that young, of today.
Now this is a thread I can be enthusiastic about! Haha I love it when they scream in songs. There are so many I could name!
It's the amazing combination of both John and Paul. It's already been said about the difference between their screams and how vital it is to the music! So I won't repeat :)
But gosh, it makes it so fantastic. I prefer John's screaming as a sound, but I'm envious of Paul's talent to scream in pitch.
I love John's screams in Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Bad Boy and Money (That's What I Want), to name a few. The way it's all gravelly and hoarse makes it exciting and rather sexy I might add. ;)
And Paul's is totally different. I do adore his screams in I'm Down, Long Tall Sally, Ooh! My Soul, Boys, Can't Buy Me Love... there's so many of them. His Little Richard-esque wailing is just darn impressive.

Thanks :)
Yeah that was a good one from John
Also Slow Down, Dizzy Miss LIzzy and all those rockers
I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!!!
I watched Ringo sing "I Wanna Be Your Man" recently on a tape. I can't remember what show it was (one of the night television programs) but he was doing some incredible screaming like never before. He's still got that voice. :)
"Oooooh-Oooooooooh", on Revolution #9 :o ;) ha2ha :-X :P
