Looks to me like "Ebony And Ivory" as turned out to be a very profound song with the election of President elect Barack Obama ?
Paul and Stevie should be invited to perform it at the the White House on the 20th of January 2009 , when President elect Obama is sworn in ?
-
President-Elect Obama's Stevie Wonder song of choice appears to be "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours." It's been a staple of his rallies since the primaries, and it was played at Grant Park on election night.

Great so Barack's at least a fan of Stevie .
This is how i see the concert on the White House lawn , Stevie launches into "Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Your's" , the whole crowd goe's wild , the song ends to applause
Stevie then plays the cheesy synth introduction to "Ebony And Ivory" , Paul appears from the wings followed by 44 children from different ethnic backgrounds .
Paul and Stevie and the kids then sing this ode to racial harmony , people join hands and sway to the lilting sound.
Paul embraces Stevie and turns to the crowd says "where all in this together "
To end the concert Paul and Stevie do a funky synth version of The Beatles " Michelle " and dedicate it to the new first lady .
The new President and the First Lady kiss , while there daughters fight over the new White House puppy .
And the world is changed forever " Ebony And Ivory " heals the world ? (wink1)(thumbsup)

Would that man be janitor George W. Bush in the first day of his new job ?

This guy a janitor?

He'd be sweeping with the wrong end of the broom. ;D
-
I think that song is a disgrace to Stevie Wonder and Paul. two musical genisues such as these, and all they could come up with was "hey, I'm black and you're white, let's write a song about it!"?
-
I think you have to blame Spike Milligan for the original idea ,it was him that gave Paul the cheesy inspiration .

Paul McCartney Wants to Serenade Michelle Obama
By Pete Norman / People (http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20238931,00.html)
Sir Paul McCartney has made the President-elect an offer too good to pass up: he wants to sing for Michelle Obama.
"I think sincerely he is the man for the job. I think it is a legendary occasion and I wish him the very best," McCartney told Britain's Sky News backstage at the MTV Europe Music Awards Thursday night.
"I hope to get the opportunity to sing ... to his wife. I have a little song ready for him," the former Beatle said. Asked what tune he has in mind, McCartney purred the start to one of the most famous songs of the '60s: "Michelle."
McCartney, who picked up the Ultimate Legend award at the event in his hometown of Liverpool, declared the election had turned out to his liking.
"I was so 'fingers crossed' he would win it," said McCartney. "I'm so chuffed."
-
Did'nt know about that Geoff , just thought it was an obvious thing to do, Paul to sing for the lovely Michelle .
Looks like my concert might come off and Bush will be sweeping up afterwards (thumbsup)

LOL............!
I'm actually okay with the song--it may be full of cheese but it's catchy and at least has a positive message. It's just the music video that makes my eyes bleed. It's...it's...it's...just so Eighties. ;D

I love some of the pairings: Ron Paul and Bob Dylan in the upper right hand corner, and Dick Cheney and Stephen Colbert on the left just below Lincoln. Little bit of opinionating, maybe? 8)

You know what, you guys can call it cheesy, or anything else you want, but Ebony and Ivory is a song with a message that will always be timeless!
It's your opinion that it's cheesy, I think anyone that thinks that doesn't have a clue!
I think the intro is just right for the song, the vocals and harmonies are excellent, it has a very good bassline, a smooth r&b groove, and Stevie does a fantastic job on the drums.
Bash it all you want, but all the bashing still didn't stop it from being a #1 worldwide smash hit that people all over the world love!
I give McCartney and Wonder major props! Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about, and there's absolutely no disgrace in writing a song that resonates with people all over the world! As screwed up as this world is, they need to do it again!
Ebony and Ivory is an excellent song!!

Oh please, this is one of the cheesiest songs ever made. You do seem to base all your opinions on whether a song gets to No.1. Is the Birdie Song a classic too?
-
As I said, your opinion!
Being a #1 worldwide smash hit certainly doesn't hurt!

"Ebony and ivory live side by side on my keyboard/Oh Lord, why can't we?"
I dunno. Maybe because the white keys never enslaved the black keys?
-
actually, Beethoven composed on a "piano" like this one

Ditto.

Ebony and Ivory is a pretty weak song. It's fodder for airheads; vapid, trite, and entirely without substance. It's pure Paul. He repeats the same sentiment over and over and it goes nowhere.
Hey, while we're on the subject... Why does everyone in my neighborhood have an little Obama statue in their front yard?
-
Probably because they're airheads, vapid, trite, and entirely without substance!
Some people just don't get Ebony and Ivory, it goes over their airheads!

I remember you now!!!!!!!!
I once came into the MaccaRadio.com chat room, and you were there!!!!
I attempted to have a conversation with you, but instead you gushed on and on like a puppy-lovesick schoolgirl for 15 minutes. Not able to take any more of this pathetic schoolgirl-crush monologue, I left and almost had to shove an icepick through my own temple to make the pain go away.
THAT FREAK WAS YOU!!!!!!

Nice harmonies now. Please allow me to point both of you to this: http://www.dmbeatles.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1154884106/

Oh gee...
There's plenty of slavery going on in Africa right now, without any white people being involved. Enslaving others has gone on since humans first appeared on Earth. Religion, ethnicity, social class, warfare and a slew of other reasons have been used to justify enslaving or killing whole groups of people. Christians were enslaved, Whites enslaved blacks, Nazi Germany tried to eradicate the Jews. It's life. It's history. Everyone is capable of it, so who knows? At some deep genetic level, it's probably instinctual.
Get over it.

Extolling the virtues of racial harmony, 'Ebony and Ivory' might be, but do remember that Obama never really made a point of being black. Hence making an issue of it now (or at the inauguration) would seem, at best, really tacky!
-
Bluemeanie, that guy has no sense of humor, he's right about everything, everyone else have no intelligence!
NoNamer, I understand what you're saying, but at the inauguration like it or not, the issue of Obama being black will be one of the main, and I do mean main stories and highlights, as it should be!
It will be a very very historic moment in history!!

Sense of humor? That one nearly had me busting a gut!!!! :)

It wasn't funny.
But it brings to mind a very, very historic moment in history....
Oh, never mind.
Hey has anyone noticed that the white keys all sound good together when played, and the black keys all sound good together when played, but they don't sound particularly good when randomly mixed? Also, didja know that even-tempered instruments like pianos, for example aren't in perfect harmony?
-

Sure they do, it's called "jazz".

What if Frank Sinatra recorded Ebony And Ivory with Stevie Wonder instead of that Beatle kid that looks like a broad...

I've always liked this song. It's very catchy and tuneful. Like it? I love it! Yeppers.
-
Everybody has their own taste, but I feel 'Ebony and Ivory' detracts from Tug Of Wars greatness. Its like an ugly wart that needs removed from a super models face. Its the only bad song on that record.
-
Yeah never been a fan of it despite its noble intentions. I would have preferred he keep it as a stand-alone single.
-
The one thing that is really fascinating about it is that I have always felt that Mccartney and Wonder's voices really worked well together.
-
I’ve always liked “Ebony and Ivory”... and still do.
I also had a teacher tell me one time many, many years ago that opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one.
So, why don’t we all play nice and respect one another’s opinions without being a**holes...

I agree. And it's worth a listen-to again...

I feel the same about Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's voices on Say Say Say...

Even when the 2015 Remix switched their lead vocals, the song still sounded great...

I dont like the 2015 remix. To top loaded with Michael in my opinion.

I wonder if the director of the Ebony and Ivory video did Paul's Coming Up as well. Interesting to note that Paul had such a malleable voice, soul, rock, pop and anything else he wanted at the top of his game. John and George had that quality as well. I also think that years of singing in a multiple vocal band did help as well.

Yep Paul’s vocal skills at his peak were amazing.
-
Wow! I love these posts. Also, Say Say Say is a great song - so full of joy and positive energy. I wish we had more of this in today's world, singing, dancing and all-around merriment!
-
In regards to the remix of Say Say Say. I preferred the old vocal arrangement but the new musical arrangement.
