In a book called "The Big Beat", a great studio drummer named Bernard Purdie claims he was secretly hired to re-record the drum parts on early Beatles albums. I have never heard anyone respond to that claim. Could it be true?

Hi Togger. It's been well responded to. Purdies claim was pretty incoherent in the first instance. He was all over the map on what songs and when and how.  He had no evidence to support it. And the recording and mixing of Beatle songs are well documented.

It's suspected Purdue was hired to sweeten the drums on the songs the Beatles did with polydor in Germany (when Pete Best was drummer) and he's simply embellished the story.

Purdie is acknowledged as a great drummer but has a reputation for being a bit of a wacko.
