Tom Waits - Poor Edward
« on: November 10, 2010, 08:55:55 PM »

I just found out this song by curiousity. My best friend is in love with Tom Waits and he kept telling me to listen to this song. It is brilliant ! And it's inspired from a real story about Edward Mordrake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Mordrake), a boy who had a 'devil face' on his back (just like the song says). Anyway, I have a new respect for Tom Waits after listening to this song. Warning: Don't listen to this at night with the lights out and alone at home  ;D.
Oh, and here's a great video I found on youtube :

Brilliant song, though it is very unsettling. I had a friend in high school who was a Tom Waits fan, but she was absolutely terrified of this song.

Maybe his music is brilliant, I don't know, but I really can't stand his voice.

Try this one. His early voice sounds a whole lot softer. Maybe you'll enjoy it :

P.S. Wow, I can't believe it's been more than a year since I made this thread...
