Hello! I'm getting into this thread too

I choose Van Halen (I've always loved hard rock music)

OK. Next one:

Pink Floyd Hey You

Scorpions - Hey You

Welcome to the game Marin!

I prefer the Pink Floyd song.

Now, two old gems...

Love - Old Man

Neil Young's song sounds better to me

Lucy Pearl - Dance Tonight (HQ)

Paul McCartney - Dance Tonight ft. Natalie Portman

Yeah, Paul wins.

Commonwealth battle...

The Bee Gees- 'Holiday'

Holiday - The Kinks

Easy choice. 'Holiday' is easily one of my favourite Kinks songs. Just an incredibly pleasant melody and fine lyrics. Love Ray's funny voice at the beginning, too. Great tune from the forgotten masterpiece, 'Muswell Hillbillies'.

"Holiday, oh what a lovely day today,
I think I'll get down on my little ol' knees and pray, thank you Lord,
Thank heaven for this holiday..."  :)

But The Bee Gees song is okay, too.

Hmm, what about...

Elton John - Friends

The Beach Boys - Friends

Led Zeppelin Friends

Yes, what a dark view of the life is Muswell Hillbillies, isn't it? Certainly a classic record.

I choose the Beach Boys song, beautiful!

Them vs. her...

Them - Gloria (Live)

Laura Branigan - Gloria [1982]

Darn it!  Those are both great songs.  I like how Laura Branigan's Gloria was used in the ice skating scene in Flashdance.  But I like Van Morrison and Them's Gloria just a bit better.  At the time of its release, I liked The Animals and I actually thought they were singing it.  That's AM radio for ya!

But I want to give Laura Branigan a second chance.  She deserves it...

Paul McCartney - It's Not True

Wow, I've neglected my favorite game for so long that the Who video isn't even on YouTube anymore! I found it in another one though and now I have a new Who song that I like. Paul's wasn't as much fun.  :)

I found three different songs that share this title but eliminated poor Mary Wells right off the bat. That leaves...

The 4 Seasons - Bye Bye Baby - 45 rpm (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Thanks for reviving the game, Kelley!

Both songs are nice, but I choose the one by Janis.

I'll go with Spirit because it scared me less! Boy, I'm glad 1984 didn't turn out as bad as people thought it might.

This is an easy one for me. I really love The Who's version. In fact I was just listening to it earlier. But "Eight Days a Week" is a good song too.  :)

Now...two songs so different its hard to believe they have the same name:

Neil Sedaka - Stairway to Heaven (1960) (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

or

Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven (Studio Version) (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Not a fan of Led Zeppelin and all their pompous music. Besides, "Stairway To Heaven" is a rip off of Spirit's "Taurus". Neil Sedaka's song is nice and has the simplicity of the early days, I choose his tune.
