I've never owned a Vox amp myself but have played through a few - always loved the lovely clean, crisp sound I got when I used my Rickenbacker 12-string through a Vox. Only other amp that has come close for that kind of sound was an old Fender Twin I used for a while.

George was after a particular sound in 1962-3. No doubt he was influenced by Chet Atkins. Yes, they knew what thry were doing alright!
The AC 30 I bought last year was the VOX AC30CC2X, a limited edition model with the same specs as the 1962-3 AC30. The sound I get with my 1963 Country Gent through that amp is much what George heard back then.
