DM's Music History site
« on: June 27, 2011, 11:34:42 AM »

Some of you know about my website mostly dedicated to pop/rock music http://www.murashev.com/dmdl/ It contains discographies, lyrics, a little of reviews; now it also have mp3 album previews, which you can listen to, for example `McCartney': http://www.murashev.com/dmdl/disk.php?disk=242 This is my web-site's new feature. Hope they won't sue me  roll:)

It was the introduction. Now the business.

I'm looking for a new domain for my DM's Music History site, something like allmusic.com, music.com or maybe rockmusic.com or popularmusic.com, etc. The domain name has to tell one that the site is about the music, now pop/rock, later classical/opera also. All domain names I thought up are either occupy or just don't good enough. Can't help it. So if you, dear fellows, have any ideas please don't hesitate to post it here  2ch

Have any?  roll:)

http://musicland.com/? c: Lol right now it's just one of those stock sites.

Why don't you try this website, it'll help you find a new domain name that isn't taken. I was messing around with it earlier, it should be quite helpful....

Maybe it's lame, but you could do something with an alternative spelling. You could for instance spell "music" as muzic, musik, mmmusic, myousic... You could try to turn that into some kind of trademark.

I'm working on friendly URLs for http://www.dmrockmusic.com
URLs for artists are ready. And gradually I'm making album URLs, it will took a long time, but I do not hurry.

Examples: http://www.dmrockmusic.com/Electric_Light_Orchestra and http://www.dmrockmusic.com/Ram
before it was like http://www.dmrockmusic.com/artist.php?artist=11 and http://www.dmrockmusic.com/disk.php?disk=243
Of course old links will be active always.

Doesn't it look nice?  roll:)

I just checked out the ELO page.  I like it.  It has the discography, lyrics, cover scans, reviews, and links to Amazon for other reviews and buying options.

Thanks! I like Allmusic and there were the times when I visit it very often to get information on favorite bands, but then I wanted to make my own website with my fav artists and to make year by year chronology, and with a differ navigation... The next step is to make website editable for registered users (a little bit like Wiki). The users could edit theirs favorite artists as I did before. I want to make this because unfortunately I can't spend much time on editing website and I don't want neglect it.

If you'll get any ideas about this website let me know  ;)

Great site, very complete info of each band. I'd just tell you that you're missing a few important 60's bands like Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y and Spirit.

Thanks! I know I don't have many important bands, some of which I didn't listen to. I hope I'll add them sooner or later. And I'll take into account your suggestions.

You're welcome and actually I think you included many important bands, especially from the 60's. I just mentioned those few groups that I consider as essential, especially Buffalo Springfield.
