THERE was a lot to admire about the late John Lennon’s character, as laid bare in the excellent Imagine . . . Lennon: The New York Years (BBC1, Tuesday).But also a lot to give you cause to feel sorry for him.Here, yet again, was proof that untold wealth and worldwide fame are no guarantees of a happy and fulfilled life.And yet Lennon’s New York adventure had started so positively – so much so that it even seemed as if he had forgotten about the brilliance of his home city.“John would often say ‘I should have been born in New York City’,” Yoko Ono told us.
