Motown is the greatest, the toppermost of the '60s, up on the tip of the tower with the Beach Boys and the Beatles. I adore Motown records. Life itself is less colorful, more bloody and hard without a Miracles or Temptations or Marvin & Tammi record to see you through. In my opinion, this is the greatest of all Motown singles, and that's saying quite a bit. It's quintessential:http://youtu.be/LbAaLdLguLoI'm a huge fan of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell duets. This one is my favorite of theirs:Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Your Precious LoveThe post-Diana Ross Supremes are really underrated. In my opinion, this song is one of the best Motown singles ever:The Supremes "Up The Ladder To The Roof"
Here's one from the late great DAVID RUFFIN, enjoy!I want you back - David Ruffin
I like David Ruffin's cover of I Want You BackSheryl Crow covered it too. She was a back up singer for Michael Jackson when he was on tour in the late 1980s...Sheryl Crow 'I Want You Back'
She looks a whole lot better now.
Tammi Terrell. I wish I had the words to say how much I adore her. That voice...she has got to be my favorite Motown female singer. Diana Ross? HAH!She is mainly known, of course, as the (greatest) duet partner of Marvin Gaye. They recorded many classics, but I think this is their pinnacle -Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - You're All I Need To Get By ...but she recorded some underrated solo tunes, unfortunately forgotten by many.Check this one out. It's my favorite of her solo singles. Written by Stevie Wonder and would eventually appear on his Hotter Than July album (vastly inferior version IMO), 'All I Do Is Think About You' is sublime, sweet and perfect. The way she sings "if you should discov-uh this dream is for two" leaves me weak in the knees -Tammi Terrell 1966 "All I Do Is Think About You" MOTOWN-24Be sure to check out this compilation:http://www.amazon.com/Come-See-Me-Complete-Collection/dp/B0042NJ0OS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321937301&sr=8-1Tammi, you are much missed!
