Peter Blake
« on: February 18, 2011, 05:30:05 PM »

Just listened to  Peter Blake on  Des Island Discs.
Of course the Sgt Pepper cover was mentioned and  Peter still has a few of the cut out figures.
I got the feeling that  he  is a bit miffed about the fact that he only got £200   for
creating what has become the most iconic album cover of all time !

( I could pando the  Des  Island  audio file over if anyone wants it )

it was generally accepted that there was a row of cannabis plants on the cover..

but i agree they more closely resemble something else.

Lets face it, that cover was worth a lot more than a measly £200  !

looks like the rumours of Paul being a tight wad are true !

Of course it was worth more. But again: he accepted the price. Don't start moaning in hindsight then.
