Liverpool to celebrate Beatles' 50th anniversary all through 2012

The Beatles' hometown of Liverpool will celebrate the Beatles' 50 anniversary events highlighting their music and their history with the city all through the year. The celebration was launched last week simultaneously with announcements at the Cavern Club and at Carnegie Hall in New York. Here's a chronlogical summary of the events: On June 22-23, the Liverpool Phiharmonic will feature "The Two of Us: The Lennon and McCartney Songbook" with John Wilson conducting the orchestra in the Beatles songs including "All You Need Is Love," "Yesterday" and "Strawberry Fields Forever." Performers will include singer Joe Stilgoe, jazz singer Claire Martin and Liverpool actor and vocalist Mark McGann.
