I'm just getting into her 'Blue' album. Highly enjoyable so far. What an incredible voice she had.

Any more fans around?

We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden
Caught in the devil's bargain
And we've got to get ourselves

Yeah, I grew up listening to her because of my older cousin. I'm going to thank her by taking her to the Hall of Fame in a couple of weeks to see some of Joni's things.  ;)

That sounds great!

I'm a newly converted Joni fan but I really like her. She is about the first female singer whose songs made me want to hear more (besides Blondie, if that counts). But I really enjoy her voice and she seems like a very down-on-earth person.

Sure Blondie counts!

When I learned to play guitar, I had a hard time making my guitar sound like Joni's.  When I saw her in concert in 1970, I discovered why.  Joni Mitchell uses several tuning patterns, about fifty in all.  You can see her tuning to an open D pattern in the Big Yellow Taxi video.  She also blew me away when she would occasionally bar her open chords upside down as she does in The Circle Game video.

This instructional video shows how Joni Mitchell plays Big Yellow Taxi.  I think the guitarist is magnificent...
