George Martin from the The Beatles at The Hollywood Bowl liner notes:

My youngest daughter, now nine years old, once asked my about them, "You used to record them, didn't you Daddy? Were they as great as The Bay City Rollers?"  "Probably not", I replied. Some day she will find out.

That's neat. I remember my older sister, who was 15 in 1964, telling me that she had read about this new band, The Bay City Rollers. The article said they could be the new Beatles. I think she wanted me to experience the same excitement she and her friends did. Musically, of course, that never came to pass and I don't think the hysteria was ever in the same league either. But it was kind of fun.

Teenage girls need bands too.  Heck, that's what the Beatles were early on-a band for teenage girls!  Thank God for the records so we could hear the real genius as opposed to the concerts where all that was heard was screaming.

Yeah, they ended up having something for just about everyone. My mom and dad liked them too!
