I LOVE HOT TUNA!

BF, it wasn't on the 1970 album Hot Tuna, but when it was re-released several years ago, Jorma Kaukonen credited his Antioch College friend Ian Buchanan for teaching him finger-picking delta blues style guitar in the early 1960s.  A decade later, I was privileged to take blues guitar lessons with Ian Buchanan.  I did so from 1972-1974.  What you're hearing in Hot Tuna is Blind (Reverend) Gary Davis who taught Ian his style in the 1950s.  This is how Delta Blues is passed on from generation to generation.

Hesitation Blues was the first piece Ian Buchanan taught me.  The second was...

Hi Hello Goodbye! That is so cool that IAN BUCHANAN trained you on the guitar! I LOVE THE SONG "Hesitation Blues" by REV. GARY DAVIS! I think that we need to start a Blues Thread! Here's one by the King of the Mississippi Delta Blues, the late great ROBERT JOHNSON!

That is so cool Hello Goodbye, I've heard many of these songs too. I own A LOT of Blues albums on Vinyl/LP and CD.
