Sounds like it's the wedding musical equivalent of Corinthians 13:13.   

I had to smile at the article suggesting Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring as an alternative. That's a completely overdone wedding song as well, right up there with Pachelbel's Canon, in my opinion. And Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary.
