Hip Hop Is Garbage.
« on: February 20, 2005, 01:19:18 PM »

Hip hop is nothing but garbage of the lowest common denominator while the artists who do this crap shouldn't be called artists in the first place from Run DMC, Public Enemy, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem & Nelly along with the fact that this genre has given youth, black & white, a new identity, unlike the youth of the 60's & the 70's, which is pathetic to say the least.  I'm not a racist at all but hip hop shouldn't be taken seriously asan art form by anybody because most of the artists lack any originality as in the Run DMC remake of Walk This Way & Sean " Puffy, P. Diddy " Combs idiotic remake of the Led Zeppelin classic Kashmir while the only credibility was that Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith were on one & Jimmy Page was on the other.  I consider Prince to be the last great black artist before all this hip hop crap began to take over because he's a great singer, songwriter, musician & performer with few equals along with Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Sly Stone & a few others who actually made music & are true artists & are true legends more so than any of this hip hop crap for over 20 years now.  BTW, Eminem is the dumbest white boy on the planet just as much as Vanilla Ice.

And yet again:

Wayne doesn't understand/doesn't agree with anything, so it's automatically garbage, stupid and pathetic and shouldn't be taken seriously.

*sigh...*

Hip hop isn't my thing either, but groups like the Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill and Public Enemy (to name just a few) are really talented. You just can't deny that. And I don't like Eminem at all, but it can't be denied that this guy has a lot of talent.

There are literally millions of people that try to be succesful in music, and just a few dozen really succeed big time. And if you're one of those chosen few, it's just a fact that you have a certain talent. That just can't be denied.

I don't like Hip Hop at all, but I wouldn't call it garbage.

I call it garbage since so many of the artists aren't real musicians (*coughs* Ashlee Simpson *coughs*)

If it was'nt for hip-hop, I would not have discovered the plethora of great funk and soul records....I admit some is tripe, but Wayne, you have insulted some of the leading pioneers of rap.. It's not all crap.

Yeah, its not all crap...the only Rap thats crap is the rap on MTV and on the radio, the brainwashing rap

The only good rap are the underground groups, that Rap about serious stuff, not rapping about Ho's and Trees

In the 50's, ROCK N' ROLL wasn't considered music. It was ridiculed. Now 50 years later, same thing is happening to HIP HOP.

I'm not a very big fan of hip hop, but I have The Score by The Fugees and some Wyclef Jean stuff. The Score is a great album. One of the few hip-hop collectives that actually has musicality, plus some good productions.

It's not my thing...at all. But y'know, it does take some work to make something like this. A lot of the really big, popular, mainstream [i.e.: radio, MTV, VH1...you get the picture.] stuff is...really bad. Like, the sad thing about my generation [oh no. How terrible. I'm one of the "teenybopper" Beatle fans. >_<] ...we're gonna be remembered for a song where it's basically a guy saying "yeah!", backup singers saying "yeah!", a little rap and a few actual lyrics, a really boring bassline...

But whatever. We got screwed. XD

Nah. Ever heard the absolutely awful dance music they're making over here? Most of it even beats hip hop and Nickelback on the suck-o-meter.
I confess to being really into dance, but it's designed for a purpose and has to be heard in context. The ectasy-techno thing is the best drug-music connection ever. Now when I hear I hear dance I get a little high (true!) and when I take an E I HAVE to dance. Most fun money can buy

It certainly divides the world in two
I too abhored it once, then one New Years day I went to Campden Palace, had my first pill...and off you go.
It's just so easy to dance to, no macho/girlie lyrics to divide the sexes and the long songs give you plenty to get into.
God I Love it.
