I heard there was bad weather where you are. Stay safe!

Thanks, Kelley! Has snow started in your area yet?

Has snow started in your area yet?

We had a snowstorm last Monday that yielded just a few inches but it was very blustery. I had an eye appointment in Warsaw the next day, about a hour and a half from here. That area always gets hit harder. The roads were good, except when we'd pass by an open field. Then it was like a mini blizzard! But now we have nothing and the predicted temps are above normal for the next few days. Who knows after that!

Avec plaisir, madame.

That reminds me...my son's Spanish class has an assignment in which they each write a letter to "Papa Noel."   roll:)

Never mind; I just Googled it, and that is the correct term. When I hear "Noel," I think "French." Learn something new every day, I guess!

Those open spaces are what intimidate me the most, Kelley. I'm glad you had a safe trip. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be clear when it comes time to bring my elder daughter home for Christmas; most of NoDak is nothing BUT open fields.

At least you're nice and close to the beach Nim. You can sit in the surf for air conditioning

Oh, that sounds heavenly! I love being near the ocean but I don't love going in it or sitting on the beach. Walking in the sand is great, though. I know; I'm weird. LOL

Kelley, you and I must have been sisters in a past life ( :) ): I'm the exact same way. Walking in the ankle deep water is about as far as I go, although sometimes I'll go farther out and body surf.

I honestly think one of the reasons my depression and anxiety have been so bad lately is that I have not been near the ocean in a few years. Just being on the beach is so soothing. That's why my signature line used to read "A beach is a place where a man can feel / he's the only soul in the world that's real," which is a quote from the Who's song Bell Boy on Quadrophenia.

So are mine.  ;D  Supposed to be in the single digits here soon. I understand it's summer where you are and winter here, but still...  I'll be looking at the pics you posted in the "Sea Change" thread a lot next week.

I've thought that before myself!

There's a big lake effect snowstorm coming. Someone's going to get hammered; it just depends what way the wind blows! Lake Erie, the usual culprit, is going to be aided and abetted by Lake Huron for this one. I guess I'd better look for my boots and the snow brush for my car. I hope I didn't forget to take the brush out of the van before we sold it.  roll:)

I saw that on the national news Kelley (i.e., that your area was about to get slammed). Good luck, and I hope you find your snowbrush! That lake effect snow really means business, I've heard.

I've been seeing your area on the news too. It looks brutal. When does your daughter's break start?

It has been brutal, even for North Dakota. The kids have already had 3 snow days, which is practically unheard of here.

I head out to pick my daughter up in Grand Forks next Wednesday. Looks like a big storm is heading this way next Thursday, but it's too early to tell. I'm completely paranoid. I rented a small SUV because my car has 105,000+ miles on it and I do NOT trust it. I just hope the storm holds off and doesn't come early. My ex-husband said he'll be tracking the models and will keep me updated.
