Well sure but where do you put the bar?

That's the racing tiller extension.  There's a swivel that connects it to the tiller so it's never a problem.  What is a problem is the boom which can whack you on the head when jibing.  I bought my Laser in 1975 from someone who was knocked silly that way and became fearful of the boat.  My #255 is just what the number says; the 255th Laser built back in 1971.

It's a great design and a lot of fun...
