It's 76 here at the moment. It's been been warm all week which is not typical for us at this time of year. If this keeps up I'm going have lilacs early. On the other hand, if things suddenly return to normal I won't have any because we usually have frosts at night until the end of May.

Yeah, North Dakota's been pretty dry. I could clearly smell wildfires today. I always thought that unique smell was burning sagebrush from the 5 years we lived in Nevada, but it must just be grass, because I haven't seen any sagebrush around here. Boy, did that smell bring back memories.

It's odd, too, given the horrendous flooding we had less than one year ago.  :-\

We are the complete opposite from you guys. It is cold, grey, windy and drizzly. Autumn is definately here (having said that, we had a beautiful weekend!)

It's gradually getting warmer here, but it's always so foggy and windy! It never ends :-\

May and June were fairly wet months here but July has been basically dry and hot (hi 80's &90's). Grass has been brown and weeds are green. Finally had rain yesterday and everything got some color. Late summer pattern of muggy, sun with thunderstorms in the evening setting in.

The forecast is 109 Sunday through Thursday in North Texas.

It's a dry heat, but so is putting your head in an oven.

The hot, muggy, uncomfortable pattern broke last week.!Yay! Temp is still in the high 70's and 80's but the dewpoint has dropped significantly. Nights are cool in the 50's and low 60's. I have the windows wide open and am sleeping like a baby. This is my favorite time of year. The small maples are turning color in the wet swampy areas. Fall is comming!

This was pumpkin and I didn't think I'd get to eat any because it was for the election day pie sale at the library. I found out that the advice I ignored was true; pumpkin pies don't sell well. One did sell and the other came back home. Oh darn!  ;)

Pumkins fine. The only pie I'm not crazy about is the mince pie that my folks used to make at Christmas. There's beef in the real stuff. Anything else, bring it on. Warm please, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Here's a picture from this am. It's our first snow this year. The bird in the feeder is a new arrival and I can't find the bird book! Found it! I think it's a Bunting of some kind.

The male just showed up in all his colored glory! It's an Evening Grosbeak and his 4 girls. Love it!
